I'm in a similar situation
I'm young, single, and have no kids
But it's the opposite for me.
I feel like I don't need to be gone all the time, racking up huge miles
I could spend more time at home, hanging out with friends, and family
And enjoy the money that I makeTruckinchic Thanks this. -
I'm a childless bachelor,as well.I put my stuff in storage a while back.I usually take my time off at Mom or Dad's,or wherever I feel like going.I have a bike license and rent harleys during restarts.I'm bobtailing to Talladega this spring and camping in my truck in the infield.I've been driving a year and a half, and have had my truck in 47 states.

The problem with not having a place of residence is that legally you can not write off your per diem if you don't have a true perminant residence. If you get audited (which they are doing a lot of lately) and they catch it it is tax fraud.

Even when you're single, living on the road will get old after a while. Some people tolerate it, others can't. I could only put up with it for 3 years, because after a while everything starts looking the same. Give me a daycab any day of the week. That way I can go home every night and enjoy time with my friends and family. Of course, I'm not single either and I don't think the old lady would appreciate me taking a OTR position. If I up and told her that "I'm going to drive for CRE tomorrow", she'd likely tell me right off the bat: "I want a divorce".
