I have been using a Fleet Air Filter on my current ride since I got it. Have not found any negatives. Cannot compare how it does as opposed to the stock paper filter on this truck since I changed to the Fleet Air right off the bat. It is a smaller unit so the air can get around it better than the stock filter. Seems like the stock filters anymore take up almost all of the filter housing on the under hood filter locations. The Fleet Air version has a smaller diameter so the air can get all the way around and improve flow. I know I can sure hear the turbo spooling up. Very easy to clean and re-oil. I do mine every 40,000 miles. Oil samples look good, no high silicon levels, so dirt is getting caught by the filter. I knew I would have to do something about the air filter on this ride since I was running a 500 hp series 60 with larger non gate turbo and ported/coated manifold with Walker megaflow mufflers, so I got the Fleet Air before it started pulling freight.

Love my fleet air filter, there is a noticable difference in performance and the overall sound of the engine. I did notice a slight fuel mileage gain, on paper my mileage went up .2 of a MPG. However, as far as power I dont really see any variation.

I have had both had a fleet air on my n14 and i got the k&n on my c13 they both work good,it really boils down to a matter of choice,,,,,before i parked my intl with the n14 i put about 200k on the fleetair and i got about the same on my c13 with the k&n filter now and my oil samples have came back fine.

I also have an fleet air filter on my D12 volvo, I did not notice any fuel economy improvement but, you do hear the turbo spool up. Easy to clean, keeps me from buying a new filters very 50,000 miles

Still using the same filter set up? Any changes/updates?

Swap my paper Donaldson every other oil change at $55-$65 a time, this may be worth looking into.

Had a K&N oil type on a car years ago. Never saw much of a difference there(not comparing a car to a class 8 truck) but remember being curious if the oil from the filter was affecting anything within the motor.

The washable filters are the dumest thing you can do to a diesel engine. there is a filter survey on this the diesel garage site, look it up, they are buy far the very worst crap, you can do to an engine when they are less that 90% efficient, I have rebuilt many an engine that got dust in it. If you want to know how good they are ask for a warrenty that covers down stream damage and watch them squirm. I have dyno'd many engines with and without an air filter and with and without an exhaust system for them to increase fuel economy they would have to increase power at a set throttle position. NOT one bit never and that was with a lot of units manual and computerized. These posts are just a sales thread trying to sell something to those that do not know any better.
I do believe I have covered everything, they are junk and 100% BS. If you have one take the inlet off the turbo and with a wet white towel wipe the inside of the intake piping. that dirt is wearing your rings and liners.
    Just a thought

Well, after using the Fleet Air in my Series 60 for about a year and a half, I went back to stock Donaldson's. Didn't really get any real silicon showing up in used oil samples, and never saw any appreciable mpg or power gain. But, I did get some fuel dilution in the oil. Nothing critical, but it did show up and the oil was losing some viscosity because of it. One would first think of fuel injectors, but when I went back to stock air filter, the dilution problem went away. Why the Fleet Air caused it is a bit of a mystery, but it is what it is. Might have had something to do with sensors or whatever. Problem solved, so I am not really interested in finding the reason the Fleet Air use caused some fuel dilution.
