Bet that was fun. How crucial is it to your employment to learn while in training?
-
All the training is crucial! Blindside backing is just as easy as sight side, just have to get out and look a bunch more times
-
Power mirrors help a bunch too!

If you are at a terminal or even a customer and dropping never hurts to practice blindsiding. Starting out try to find a set of 3 empty spots and aim for the middle. That way if you screw up starting out you don't hit anything or shouldn't unless you really screw up. U will do more blindsiding into the angled spots at Truck Stops than at customers. What you will have to do is 45 degrees at most since you can set up for it.

I've had to do it way more at truck stops than I have at customers. Some truck stops are just laid out funny.

I ask because we never did it where I went to school. Never did it on the test either. Was told georgia didnt require it. Never had to do it at a customer or truckstop either. We were taught to avoid it as much as possible. Georgias book even says to turn around and go back the opposite way to avoid it, that its unsafe.

There's a place we pick up batteries in columbus georgia ... rayovac i think ... and that place requires a blind side back with a little wiggle around the corner. Its not too bad once you get set up in the right position, but that's basically the trick with all backing lol, getting setup right.

Well I also remember our instructor saying we would eventually have to do it at some point, just hardly ever. Which is why they didnt bother teaching it. Shouldnt be too hard, like you said its the setup. Tighter the spot, the harder it is.
