    How old are the charges/convictions?

I won't say it will be impossible to get hired somewhere, but if you think about it, as an employer if I am presented with two equally "qualified" applicants, and one has no criminal history and one has your history. Which would you choose? Or more accurately, which would your insurance company choose?

Why did you not do your research BEFORE you got your CDL?

2 years ago for charges. Only thing on my record...ever. Didn't think it would keep me from getting a job.

You're gonna have to wait at least 3 more years. Assault is assault. It doesn't matter if it's the only thing on your record or not. It's a serious charge that carries serious consequences.

Because I shut my ex wife's foot in the door when she was trying to get into my house. I get what your saying, seems a little harsh though.

Not like I beat someone or got in a bar fight. So what I'm getting is I'm not going to be able to get hired very easily?

It's not the assault. It the drug possession. You will have to wait 5 years for some bad otr companies to look at you. You will have to wait 10 years or more for some decent otr company to look at you. The good companies (most) don't even have a time limit on drug charges. I have an assault domestic violence and I have received offers from some pretty decent companies and the company I work at now. I made 60 thousand last year and I was hired on after the domestic violence misdemeanor.

Companies don't run background checks for no reason. I hope you didn't spend tons of money on a cdl. Because you probably won't be able to use it. The companies who will hire you. Aren't even worth working for. So might try another occupation until your record is cleaned up. You probably can get those charges expunged. Will cost you a pretty penny though.

The drug charge is going to prevent you from snagging a decent driving job. You're gonna have to wait some years and reapply like Dinomite says ... at least seven years from the CLOSE (sentencing or probation or fine completion, etc.) of the charge not necessarily the date of the charge. Some companies prefer 10 or more years.
