If the average driver came to these forums looking for advice on trucking companies he/she would leave more confused then when they got here ! The number of so called bad companies can not be this high . When I post about a company , I always tell it like it is or was . Getting upset at a company & then saying things out of the heat of the moment is not a good thing . Some people would say I was whining about a past company , thats ok , it is thier opinion . I say exactly what happened & how it happened & have my wife & photo's to back it up (as my wife is always a permanent rider). We document what has happened & make notes on pocket calendar books . I always carry a steno-pad & keep all the load imfo in it by load . Load # , pick-up date & time , trailer # in & out , mileage @pick-up & then the same for delivery ! Makes for a good quick reference !
Getting upset because of something you did or did not do or the company did or did not do , is not the way to do things here . Some people are looking seriously to applying for work at the company for which you are speaking anout . It is best to say what you want , but always be fair when saying it ! Some companies are very bad to work for & we all know they are , but a new driver has no idea , thats why they are here !! Thank you all for reading this & your opinions are always welcome !!
Trueth or just upset !

Someone always loves the same company someone else hates, nothing unusual about that.

I'm a newb here and have been lurking for a week or so. I do see a lot of people bad mouthing companies. I think that is just human nature. I am happy for the opportunity to get into another career, because mine is not doing so well. The important thing I do see people say in most of the threads from time to time is, it is all going to be what we make of it. I start school in a couple of weeks, and chose a company that a lot here talk bad about. The reality is because I live in SW Florida, it is the only company to offer me a chance right now. I'm willing to take the good and the bad, just to get a chance.

Thanks for your thoughts but C.R. England isn't going to improve because of them.

It's a trucker thing. If there were more better companies then not then why such a huge turnover rate?Drivers come on here telling their side which many do elaborate but they try to save another driver from making the same mistake he did by driving for a certain company, nothing wrong with that just don't go overboard with your story.

When I started researching companies I got on several forums and read what was posted. It didn't take long to figure out that the vast majority of people who take the time to write anything have a gripe with the company. Very few that have anything good to say will take the time to post anything. Truckers aren't the only ones to do this. The average citizen is the same. Build a thousand bridges and no one says a thing. Let one of them fall and no one will ever forget.

You have the straight forward poster, the one sided stretch the truth poster and the all out I'm a screw up but I'm going to flame that company for ruining my life poster.
In general there are many bad companies out there. Trucking companies have always experienced high turn over rates because of it's hard for some to be away from home or they aren't thick skinned to life on the road. Some companies use that to their advantage and prepare for people quitting by training them and herding them through like cattle. Why pay you good when I can pay you less because you are going to quit anyways type mentality. Then there are some middle of the road companies that attempt driver retention and try to meet in the middle of the road. Then there are the elite companies with elite drivers that pay a good wage.
You can tell when someone is posting BS versus numerous bad posts about the same company. If there are pages and pages on one company you can pretty well bet you are in for a bad experience if you go that route. Usually the more knowledgeable drivers will attack a BS post.
For new drivers it's pretty much finding the best of the worst. There is no such thing as a great training company that you will stay and retire at. Training companies are nothing but getting your foot in the door. You use them and they use you. Tough out your year and then get a better job. At two years many of the good job opportunities open up. It takes a good 3 years to get a better understanding of the industry and how to learn to deal with many things. But things due eventually get easier with experience.
Another thing is the wide diversity of driving jobs. You have to find what you like. This can take 2-5 years until you settle in somewhere.j3411 Thanks this. -

When I started researching companies, I started with the Report a Bad trucking company thread. After a while I noticed that a lot of them were kind of one sided, or lacked facts. So then I switched to the Report a Good Carrier thread, because it seems to me that it would be easier to bad mouth than to say something positive. So I focused on the threads that were positive, identified the carrier, did an advanced search, and compared good to bad on each carrier. It seemed to work out ok. (My favorite thread was the one about the guy who picked up a female "passenger" at a truck stop, who then proceded to steal his Gas Cards, and got mad at his company for trashing his DAC hahhahahaha!)
