Hey guys I have a question. I plan on starting orientation the week after next. My question is....when Schneider assigns a truck do they clean or replace the mattress in the sleeper? I don't know if I could get comfortable sleeping in another mans funk!

clean is relative. new mattress shouldn't be an issue.

They won't replace it automatically when the truck is returned, but when you go to pick it up just go over to the shop there and ask for a new one.

I was approached by a Crete driver yesterday night. He gave me the typical " the grass is greener on the other side" scheme. I wasn't impressed. He actually gave me his personal card lol! His name is Eric Lantis.

All companies have their highs and lows. You can't get ahead by jumping when things get bad. It'll be the same anywhere in trucking, but maybe at different times. This goes to all my fellow Schneider drivers, if you weigh your options and decide to leave, make sure its for the right reasons.

Another company may pay more, but you have to run the miles to get it. Some companies dont have the freight Schneider does. The other companies have sliding pay scales. What that means is that you may think its better, but it might not be worth it in the long-run.

Think about the OCs and other things that you take for granted. Choose wisely my friends. I'm not saying I'll be here for a decade, but I'm getting my experience and thinking about the rest as it comes. You can't get more money by jumping from here to there. You have to prove your skills and longevity to get the good loads and best trucks.

You drive an average of 46 miles for free each load at Schneider with their zip code pay. I'm just glad to be driving again after my preventables at Werner. I'm grateful and humbled by Schneider. Yeah they have their flaws, but what company doesn't? They gave me a second chance when literally no other company would take me.

Schneider allowed me to return to the industry after 3 1/2 years out of it. I, too, am thankful.

But their shortcomings that have developed in the ensuing years overrode the benefits. I owe them nothing but my appreciation.

And I ran exactly ONE week over 3000 miles the last two years at SNI (3003). In my first year at Crete, I ran probably a dozen. 2013, I've got one already. That was last week.

My right hand convex good mirror fell off in traffic today. A car almost crashed trying to dodge it. I have a solid, but shaky and loose truck. It runs good though. I seen a replacement mirror in the truck stop, but its $20+tax. That's kind of steep just for a convex mirror. The crazy part about this story is that I just got that one new at the ATL OC a day earlier. Maybe the mechanic didn't put it on good?

They suffer stress cracks that eventually cause them to depart. I've lost one or two over the years. They'll usually wiggle a bunch as a pre-game show.....

I agree the grass isn't always greener on the other side but then again sometimes it is. I don't owe SNI anything I had job offers from a dozen trucking companies. My recruiter at SNI said all the other recruiters were jealous she got me because hiring me was so easy she didn't have to do anything but give me a start date. My MVR is spotless I've had two jobs in the last 15 years now three with SNI and no criminal history. The way I look at it is who ever I work for is lucky to have me I know that sounds conceded LOL but that's the way I feel. I'm a good dependable courteous driver and greet all there customers with a smile and a friendly hello and good bye. More importantly no matter where they send me no matter how tight it is I don't hit stuff LOL
