In 2 years I have yet to have a violation, so it can be helped.
Sometimes that help comes with logging a 30 minute pre-trip, then editing it after you run over by 10 minutes.
Sometimes (mostly) it is just by planning things correctly.

If you log 15 minute pre-trips and cut corners everywhere you can, then I agree.
You can not help but get violations.

That brings to mind. Ive gone over my 11 3 times, because I couldn't find parking. Quickly sent a message and flagged it " looking for safe heaven to park". Nothing was ever said to me. Also, a friend I went to orientation with got fired last year because he wasn't logging at least 15 minutes on duty for pick up or delivery.

I usually log 15-30 minutes for live pick up and deliveries.
    Drop-n-hooks I just stay on-duty.

Happened once to me as well, went three minutes over getting back to a terminal. Before you come off the drive line comment right then and there why you went over and you shouldn't have much of a problem if it is legitimate. But you have to do it on the portion of the drive time you are over hours on. Goes right to the advice of log it as you do it.

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

I'm knocking on wood as I type this, but I've been doing exactly what you describe (above) and so far no log violations.

I make sure that I'm on the log every time I send a Macro (except 32s) and so far - so good.

I'm normally off duty when I send my Mac 10's. No one has called me on it.

I forgot the 10s, I usually send them off-duty/sleeper berth as well.

You're right, of course, but I've been told more than once by multiple log instructors that violations (and failed log audits) are being triggered by the computers, not people, and making a notation giving a reason for a violation makes no difference in the system. I'm sure that it would, however, make a difference in a DOT inspection.
