I didn't mind running for Knight, and I found them to be far better than Werner or J.B. Hunt... I ran out of the Hutchings TX terminal on a dedicated run for Discount tire. I was home almost every weekend, and normally atleast 1 night home during the week. They treat drivers based on how hard they run. If you always turn miles and show up early, your dispatcher will bend over backwards trying to keep you busy. I always recieved my unload pay, only broke down once(they reimbursed me for a hotel), and overall enjoyed working for them. But as with any of the big companies it always sucked trying to find an mt trailer in a major metro area...(They will pay you 12$/hr to hunt down an mt, you just have to talk to dispatch before you start) Overall, they are not a true "otr" company. You run the regions you feel like driving, and even company drivers can turn down loads. I turned down a couple east coast loads when I 1st started out, so they just kept me the in SW till I transferred over to a dedicated route. Best gig out there is driving for Walmart, any other company will have some issues.

Nope, there's others who have said it. You just haven't seen it. It's a big forum..

That being said, you can attack me all you like. I made my points, which you dint bother to address. As for "telling on myself", I don't even know what you mean by that. I left the whole biz long time ago. I just check here now and then to see how far it's fallen, and listen to everyone praise their masters. It's entertainment for me. Like watching a car crash derby...

And it's even more telling that the best reply is to shoot the messenger. Truth is a nasty b***h, isn't she?

Simple question, requiring simple answer: If it's such a wonderful gig, why is this section of the forum even HERE? You seen how long it is? So everyone here is LYING? What that say about the character of the people here?

Not diss at you. You just being straight. Just making the point that if it's such a great business, there shouldn't even be a complaint thread, else there's a whole lot of people making up BS stories. Which is it?

Always gonna be people who have a gripe about something for what ever reason, there people in hawaii right now complaining about something. As for obeying their masters, that is the word useage of someone who has a chip on their shoulder and axe to grind. You don't monitor this for "how far it has fallen" you come here looking for a chance to jump in and for a few moments make yourself feel important, vindicated and if anyone has anything that contradicts your experience with what they experience you have to nay say them.

Walmart is NOT the "best gig out there". Maybe the best OTR company in your mind but definitely not the best driving job out here.

The route is a suggested route, take the "safest" route. I get my bonus every quarter, as far as reimbursements, that's your DM. Their's a few ways of getting reimbursed... your DM can just send you a P.O. as "extra pay" that's the simplest. Sounds like you need to change DM. They have a lot of inexperienced DMs and they're not good for new or lazy drivers, you have to hustle but miles and hometime are good.

As far as driving on line 5 or over your hours, that is your responsibility, your record and your decision. Operating your truck in a safe and legal manner is the driver responsibilty ONLY. That DM is trying to get his bonus like you and he might tell you to do anything but it's been my experience that weekend and holiday guys (part timers) ask you to do that as the regular DM are very proffesional. If you are working weekends or holidays ask your DM to load you up for the whole weekend on Fri

This Knight carrier is s%ck$ng teat on the bottom side of everything, in Seattle they are known as an untouchable for work, so we'd love to send it all down to those Texas Desperadoes who wouldn't apparently know better anyways(or AR)California too, except that cost of CA living quickly dispels that myth about I can do this, this is great, better than nothing double speak. As far as carriers, Schneider is getting the closest to something out there that might work,(or Marten) and if thats so, there is still alot of come uppance required to make this a real paying trade for the majority. It is tiring but expected that a certain element will spout the so called benefits of staying employed, wish for all of us that speal would stay in the mouth of the recruiting dept where it belongs.
