You're just pissing up a rope. This guy, in spite of all the posts here that tell all what SwiftQuit is really like, is bent on going to Swift. Let him go there and enter the den. Then watch him not come back here admitting all those posters knew what they were talking about after all. That's a typical story, which goes like this:
Ignore the herd and go with a rotten apple anyway.
Find out the herd knew what was up about after all.
Drop off the earth.
Sometimes I wonder if some of these guys are really just posers. Could somebody be so naive as to ignore the hundreds of posts here about Swift and charge in full steam anyway? I guess they could be just insiders posing as drivers to establish doubt in the minds of the sheep.
Some of us will never be fooled. I'm scheduled to drive for SwiftQuit the day after the end of the world. -
I've worked for Swift for over 1 year now and I am very happy with Swift so far. I can think of only one problem. I was invited to join a fleet I was told i would be running so hard I would need to take a restart every week and that would be at home. 4 weeks into that fleet and I'm not even running as many miles as the standard OTR fleet and never got home. So I called one of the walmart DC's and I've been doing walmart dedicated ever since. Now in over a year of working with Swift and only having that one problem. I'd say thats not so bad. I beleave every big company has its own up's and down's. Every body will always talk crap about the bigger companys and thats just how its always going to be. Personally I beleave you should all relax and mind your own business you all spend so much time talking crap about the bigger companys and its pointless yea swift has alot of accidents wow thats surprising they have over 40000 trucks also so wow what are the freakin odds compare those odds to your little 10 truck companys yea they have alot fewer accidents.. hmm I wonder why.. and the people saying they would sew the crap out of swift for even bumping one of there trucks first off.. its all talk you would not. and even if you did you would lose why? because swift has lawyers and money every trucking company has its fair share of accidents just because its a swift driver doesnt give the right to sew them for some stupid a ss reason. your all talk and no action just like on the CB all talk.

40,000 trucks at SwiftQuit? I don't believe it. If they do indeed have that many, half are sitting in terminal lots gathering dust while waiting on the next pool of fools.
I'd sue SwiftQuit or any other big outfit that relies on shoddy training if a driver from said outfit just looked at me funny. If you think this ol' boy is all talk, you would get a big surprise if you were that driver. Yeah, let it happen. You'd soon see some of us walk the walk. -
I do remember 8 to 10 years ago, its not the same. From what you have said, I do not see a reason why you would not get rehired back. As far as choosing Swift, I am not here to recruit. I have been through both good and bad times with Swift, and I enjoy what I do. You have to make a list of what you want out of a trucking company, and then interview them, and base your decision on who can come closest to your needs. If you do go back to Swift and work out of Jonestown, the Terminal Manager there is a great guy by the name of Dan Roy. I worked under him for several years and he is very understanding and supportive.
Good luck with your decision

I'm closing my eyes and visualizing here. Yes, I can see it. I see a vast herd of drivers in the distance moving away from SwiftQuit......a herd of about 10,000 drivers who definitely aren't picking Swift's bones because they're insecure, petty people who are only out for vengeance. 10,000 is a quorum, sure, but to me, 10 would be. -
About two years ago I drove my father -in-laws motor home across the country and simply fell in love with driving the road. On my way back home I caught a flat and got pulled into a truck tire repair facility in Nebraska and there was an independant trucker there that had a Boxer Terrier as a seat companion who pretty much confirmed all the things I enjoyed about driving a rig across country.
I was recently laid off from work and have been thinking about making the leap into Truck Driving (don't think my wife is going to care for it, so I have not discussed it with her yet). I have been reading the forums here for several nights very closely in hopes of gaining an appreciation for what school I wanted to go to to get my CDL-A and become a Truck Driver. I am not interested in hopping around the industry from truck company to truck company so I want to do this right the first time. I have decided I am going to go with Swift. I was first strongly considering Stevens but It appears that if I begin driving for Stevens I will very rarely see home again here in the PacNW. Swift does offer a the Comfort Zone package that will allow me to get most all of my miles here in on the Pacific Coast and the North West. Plus- it appears there is a Swift Facility in Troutdale, Oregon that is within 5 miles of my home.
OK... I am really GREEN to this industry and now that I have read most of the Good, the Bad and, the Ugly it seems to all be boiling down to most of the dissenters posting here in these forums have nothing good to say about ANY of the big trucking companies in ANY of the threads they post in. Least of all, none are really offering a recommendation or a fair comparision of the pros and cons between each. So, all that I have to rely upon are the the reviews by those that have identified why they like the companies they are driving with. Swift seems to be getting high marks the most from those that drive or have driven for them, so I am going with Swift unless somebody here can make a better reccommendation of a better trucking company that will help me get my CDL and decent truck and lots of freight to haul... in my comfort of course.
ANYBODY??? -
This post is a joke, right? When I read a post like this, I can't help but suspect the person is really an insider posing as a greenie. If you'd have seen what I've seen, Eidolon, you'd understand. I'm not trying to flame you, I'm just telling you how it is.
With all the good outfits out there, you're going with SwiftQuit? I suggest you read some more. It's possible you'll go to that company and be fine, but the odds are long. Too long, really. I worked for them once, and will again only the day after doomsday.
Also, SwiftQuit uses a shoddy training scheme in which those with little experience are allowed to train green drivers. If you DO go with these clowns, put your foot down and demand to be trained by somebody with some experience under his belt. You may have to wait six months on the trainer, but you should hold out anyway.
You really should forget about Swift. Try Crete instead. I worked for CCC as well, and that outfit is leaps and bounds above JerryCo. It takes a bad one to appreciate a good one, and I appreciate Crete. And SwiftQuit? Take 'em off the road.
Of course, I'm not the only one who despises SwiftQuit. I have plenty of company. Just find a few of the Swift threads here, such as those in the Bad Company and DAC section, and read, read, read. The herd is never wrong, especially when the herd is made up of a bunch of honery, individualistic, independently-thinking truck drivers. And with SwiftQuit, the herd is awfully big.
Good luck. If you go with SwiftQuit, you'll need it. -
Actually most of my mentors average about 3 years experience under their belt. You will actually see that across the company. When you are 3 to 1000 times as large as most companies, the coments will be proportional. It's like saying China just took a poll of what they think of America, and almost a billion people responded, so it must be true because of so many people... Is there good and bad at Swift, absolutely. That goes for any company or union. He was concerned that everywhere he looked, there is only negative about every company. I am sure there is someone absolutely against Crete also. Dac? I believe relatively little in regards to drivers from Swift having false information placed on their dac. Safety handles the accident information, and the termination process is handled by either the Fleet Manager or Terminal Manager. You select the proper termination code (Voluntary or Involuntary) and it ranges from abandoned equipment to personal problems at home. I want the drivers to go out, see what its like out there and then want to come back to work for me. Those are the best drivers I have.
Tip, if your agenda is to keep people from Swift, your most convincing argument will need to include both positives and negatives about Swift. This will make you appear more rounded in your opinion instead of one sided.
