It was always great to get home, but it was so tiring too. It is great to see your grandkids though, they grow up so fast: we would go home once about every 3 mo so middle grandson was 3 mo older every time and you only had a few hours to visit, so we lost a lot of his 1st year.

Prayers Matilda is a good girl for you.

ARG... I get so distracted with other things... Barely touched the inside of the truck, and got our next load out of here on Friday... Guess its time to get to it!!

Planning on taking out about half of our 'supplies'. Since we make it home weekly (most of the time) I'm going to make sure we have clothes enough for two weeks, plus an emergency change... and canned food enough for four days... We will still get our fresh food, but no need for the canned supplies we were carrying... I might even have room on the upper bunk now for .... I don't know, but there will be some room LOL!

I know you enjoy getting home so often, it makes a lot of differance. I know we had so much stuff too, things I even forgot about, it is easy to collect. We didn't go home but every 3 mo though. He had a volvo automatic then with the sunroof. It had really a lot of storage room. The bottom bed made up into a table if you wanted, and had a little storage open underneath it and the bench seats on each side could be accessed either from the top or from the outside storage doors. They usually held tools and stuff like that for the truck and detergeant and drinks when it wasn't freezing out.

The truck he has now is one of those freightliner lightbody trucks. The bed he says is perhaps a little bigger than the international, and the cabinets are next to it and they sit almost on top of the back of the seats. Very little floor space. No room for a refrigerator except to put it in the passenger seat for now. He still has things to recollect at his sisters house whenever he gets back up that way, like the micorwave.

Well the upper bunk can be used for laundry bags or extra blankets, coats, things that won't go ouch if they fall off at least. And just remember if you clean the truck out, you'll be a month trying to figure out if you have it or where it is.

We just got a 'real' mattress, and its a twin XL... Still amazed that we can both fit at times (we use to weigh 400/300)... We have the company spec truck, so no bells or whistles... One of the bells I wish we had is the outside access on the passenger side to under the bunk. We have to life up the bed to get to it... Such a pain! We have our fridge strapped to the top bunk. Hard to reach the top/freezer area, but it works... And our micro is strapped under the top bunk. Our clothes are in a box to the left and cooking machines (crock pot/Road Pro/George Forman) is to the right of the fridge... We have our printer in the cabinet behind the passenger and our computers/scanner in the cabinet behind the driver... SO much stuffing such a small place!! And you're right about trying to find things... I put things away where I can find them again (such as a gift I was giving a friend) and could not for the life of me find it again!! Until I pulled pulled out our laundry bag (one of three) and found it placed in there... Sigh... Well she got it, it just took a while... LOL!

Well his truck doesn't even have the top bunk, so that is not even an option for him to put things on. A mattress, next to a good riding seat is great, hopefully you will be more comfortable. On the internet for freightliner it looks like the mattress is supposed to be about 40 x 80 in size; it is perhaps what 3-4 inches wider than a twin bed, he said it was a good mattress though, not those cheap ones most carry.

I know the stuff under the seat cushions never got accessed that way very often except from the bottom side. I just wonder why they didn't put a second door in, it makes it so much easier to store things that aren't needed all the time.

They keep on chopping on the sizes of the trucks to keep fuel economy up and the weight down, but when it is your home for a large part of your life it would be better to have a few more comforts maybe. I didn't drive when I was out with him before and had my crocheting, books and computer that kept me busy, besides cooking. I think they must have men design these things too; I bet if women got into there would be a lot more things on the trucks.

I just checked out the FB page...pretty nifty how you've got it arranged. I'd be afraid of the microwave placement (for me)....wouldn't be long before I had a lumpy head!!

Loved the pictures. Might as well turn the dog crate bed into a catchall. My beagle is like that with me, the more bed she can hog the better she thinks and it offends her otherwise. I do try to keep her on her quilt and pillow where the hair is there and not all over.

The inside compared to the old volvo is devoid of a lot of things. Your freightliner must look pretty much like his inside does. I wish it had the top bunk where he had more room to eventually to put his microwave in.

I really love the little lights you have strung, they look like chili peppers. He complains there is not enough light in the back.

The only thing I would worry about is the refrig if ever you were ever in a wreck of some sort and it flying through the air.

We have a wire rack under the fridge... 1) it supports it and doesn't damage the mattress that's up there, 2) the rack is wider than the side cabinets and the fridge is strapped to the rack. So IF it was to fall forward the rack it's strapped to would be stopped by the cabinets.

And yes, those are red chili lights... LOL! They give off enough glow so at night the other person can move around but not enough light to bother the driver. For when we are stopped though, he's right... there isn't much light in that bunk... Just one near the head... A 'reading' light :/

With the dog hair we are pretty lucky... With a chihuahua there isn't much, and what there is is really short!!
