Tired of shifting

Maybe you should rethink the career choice. Maybe get a job driving a taxi cab. You don't have to shift and you don't have to pay $6000 for school!

 

I'm new to driving, so please excuse me if I've missed the answer to this question somewhere.

I have thus far been under the impression that our job was to safely move a load from Point A, to Point B. Why do any of you care what kind of equipment someone else is using so long as he's achieving that objective?

I understand that most trucks have manual transmissions, and fully agree that OP should understand how they work and learn the ins and outs of driving with them, but I really don't see why it should matter one bit to anybody else after that.

To OP, I hope you find what you're looking for. Don't let these yahoos try to drive your truck for you.

 

Pete's been driving since before you even mattered and with all of your one year experience and infinite wisdom as a truck driver call him lazy? You have a long way to go in this industry and much to learn, grasshopper.

 

Nobody -did- ask you. The op was asking about companies with auto transmissions, not your personal opinion. Pete probably forgot more than you have learned about driving.

quadbox, 3 stick Brownie, sounds like a porno flick.

 

I like the good automated boxes most of the time.
They are good on fuel and you have control.
You should however learn on a manual IMO.

 

<insert sarcasm here> let me know when we get trucks that are automatics and will do all of the backing for you

 

I was thinking today, if I was an o/o with my current company and I had a team mate like the ones I ride with now, I would definitely want an auto. The way these guys abuse these trucks is unreal
