Ok, so when i was seventeen i got in a situation that led to me spending eight months in Juvenile Hall and getting a felony conviction and also getting my name slapped on the SO registry in my state. You guessed it i slept with my 16 year old girlfriend and we got caught her mother pressed charges.. I have been out of Juvenile Hall for about 2 years. I am hard up for work as no one wants to hire a SO. So I was thinking about becoming a trucker but as i look around i see it might be very hard to do that.

I really need some advice here. I will be 21 in 3 years but im 18 so i can drive in my home state. Should I even attempt to get my CDL? Or just forget about it. Does anybody know of companies that will hire convicted SO's that are basically fresh out of the joint.

Does the SO charge matter really. Will it be viewed different than any other felony?

I just dont know what to do. I really need a career and i hope trucking works out for me.

Any advice or suggestions will be helpful.

If your going to just talk #### about my conviction please save your breath because #### like that doesn't even phase me. I know who I am. You wont bring me down.

    Thanks Guys.

I think your age will be a much bigger issue than the conviction. You're probably going to have to wait until you're 21.

Honestly I dont see anywhere hiring you. Having a felony on your record screws you 99% of the time in this business. You live in a place like I do. 17 is considered an adult in that situation which to me is BS but oh well, thats life.

You CAN do instate driving, but I don't think many companies will hire an 18 year old to do it. Also your conviction is still pretty fresh. Truthfully it may be a 5-10 year thing to move past that conviction.............

If you can find a company that will hire an 18 year old. Yours odds are highly stacked against you though. That's what I meant.

I will be off probation in 4 years. Do i have to wait til after probation til the time counts or will the time i spend on probation count??

Im just trying to set a plan for life so if i have to wait 4-5 years that would be ok. Im only 18 and i have an OK job at the min. except its not enough to move out on my own.

    Thanks for the Input!

You ask a straight forward question, I'll give you a straight forward answer: Just forget about it.

You are outside of what are general industry requirements, no need to beat your head against the wall just to try to get a bottom of the barrel job. Focus your efforts and energy elsewhere.

Have you tried getting removed from the SO registry??? I have a friend who got caught up in a situation just like yours; he hired a lawyer and got removed from the SO registry. The judge agreed the law wasnt meant to punish to teenagers engaging in sexual activity but for people who preyed on children.
