What type of equipment does your company use?

If the type of equipment the company is using will be a deciding factor for you, I respectfully say that you have your priorities mixed up a bit.

I'll give you a little information on companies with nice equipment. Some have APU's & a choice of auto/manual transmissons. You can research the websites for other details. You are in Alabama?

Keep in mind, be prepared when you start applying & have all your endorsements, tanker/hazmat, passport, TWIC. Many companies that don't make a practice of hiring new CDL drivers, will make an exception to those applicants that are well prepared. It takes a while to get prepared, and sometimes a company needs a driver right now that has TWIC or passport, etc. and can't afford to wait a couple of months for him to get his ducks in a row.

 

Not really messed up priorities. Equipment is very important. You are out here most of the time, you should do the best you can to be at home. Most of the drivers out here that don't care about the equipment are miserable pricks. Equipment is at the top of our list when we switch companies. At one now with great equipment and we run. Will be staying. We have a brand new, loaded Cascadia, including fridge, APU, and inverter. With our own microwave, TV, xbox, laptop, etc... Treat it like home and you wont always feel like you're at work. We cook, clean, and relax!

(not for nothing, you're in a day cab) Oh and never needed a TWIC or passport, drove for pleny of companies before I found the right one.

 

Yes, I am in a daycab now, but I wasn't always. My only point is that if one companies working conditions, pay, benefits, etc were superior to another company, but the second company had the "cooler" equipment, I'd still opt for the better pay, benefits and working conditions...........

Not that equipment can't be considered, but the OP's post made it seem much more important than I think it would be considering other factors.

 

Well that's you. It's not 'cooler' it's caring about the drivers enough to make them comfortable and happy.

 

Dependable equipmenis tops on my list... If a company can't maintain their equipment,then that means I won't make $$ and that will result in me saying...Adiós
