Just confirmed the pay rate at Savannah Transport. .34 per mile with .10 of that paid as per diem. Makes me appreciate my pay rate even more.

Hey thanks for the parking tip. Didn't use it this time but probably will in the future. Seems we pull quite a few Backhaul's in to that location. They got me unloaded pretty quick as well. Now back to the GP prison. Got to get my car down here. Geez with the rules! I'm going to start calling it Hotel California! Check in any time but can't ever leave. Lol :)

Yep, that's why so many out of town drivers have their personal vehicles there. Much more convenient. Whether it's for extended home time or just to run around town. Many years ago Poly only hired within a certain distance of the DFW area for this reason. It's one of those quirks each driver has to decided they are willing to endure while working here.

See, it's not all lollipops & roses here at Poly. :p

I don't see it as a major problem. I'm just going to work on getting one of my vehicles down here to GP. Quickly finding out that is a much needed item. Bobtail passes aren't the answer. If truck needs service or there's anything put on hold you're SOL. No way to leave out to eat or anything. We are at GP a lot to get our loads. Finding it to be inconvenient way to often. Having my own vehicle to use would solve a lot of those issues. I didn't give it much thought when I wasn't having to spend any time at GP. Lately I've been in there and not able to leave. Wish we had a couple of company cars like at Crete or something. Oh well, I plan on having one of my vehicles there in a month or two. Just got to work out how I'm getting it there.
We all know nothing in trucking is all lollipops and roses. I know I enjoyed my time at Crete. I still believe they are the best Big trucking company out there to drive for. Always have to weigh the Pros and Cons with every driving position. I know for me that Poly is the Best driving job I've had by far. I've worked at a few big companies in the few years I've been driving. I'm still glad I made the move to Poly-Trucking. I just wish I would've found them about 10 years sooner! Take care out there! :)

If your truck is in the shop you can use a loaner to bobtail. Plus, if you are an out of town driver & your truck is the shop & unavailable to sleep in, Poly will pay for a hotel room. Just let a driver supervisor know so they can approve the stay. La Quinta will come to the front gate to pick up/drop off.

The roses & lollipops comments are meant for a poster on a different thread who reads this thread, & commented on the other thread that he believes we are lying because we never write negative comments about our company. Just my way of being tastefully snarky by using the truth. Especially since I made it a point at the beginning of this thread, & on the previous thread, that Poly is not perfect & may not be for many drivers.

In fact, I had a conversation with HR in which they hired a driver & during orientation the driver realized that he would have to do his own trip planning (no QComm routing or fuel stop planning, no elog) & quit. With drivers like this coming down the pike, I'm just shaking my head.

These are great reasons to apply!

That's what made me give Poly a look. Apparently there are drivers who are scared of the dark & need their hand held.

Things continue to improve as I learn the system a little better. Being able to accumulate a lot of extra stops now as well since I don't need to turn in paper work every week.

    Miles
October 9753 ----- Avg. length trip: 1083 (6 extra drops)
November 9931 ---- Avg. length trip: 1103 (14 extra drops)
December 11118 ---- Avg. length trip: 1235 (12 extra drops)
January 13140 --- Avg. length of trip: 1460 (11 extra drops)

Extrapolated out for year: $67746 (gross) with the 600.00 phone pay added.

Dinomite, seawind and jdrentzjr Thank this.

The two biggest things I dont miss about OTR company driving are Elogs and that #### On Guard! Every now and then I get On Guard on a truck I am delivering and I am thankful it is only for a few days. The testing trucks we drive have People Net installed on them but we dont have logins or passwords so I dont have to deal with them.
