I have a problem with "big ole bear" and his claims about this company. First, he claimed that he never sits with National Carriers. Anyone with ANY company that has ever picked up at National Beef knows their loads are rarely ready ontime and are generally 1-3 days late, so his claim is completely untrue. I'm not saying you only sit while on one of their beef loads, I'm just using it as an example because any company that picks up for them knows this is true and is common knowledge and it proved his statement is false.
He also claimed no forced dispatch to NYC. That is true but if they really need you to take one and you decline it, they retaliate.
Paychecks are not late, he wasn't wrong about that, you just never get your full pay, I.E. breakdown, layover, detention.
a big problem I have with his post is that he claims to be an "old school" driver with 17 years experience. I did see some "old school" drivers with them, all were O/O that had been there for years back when this company was an ok place to work. Every company driver I had seen with them had only a couple years experience at most, that's why they put up with .34 a mile. Really, who has 17 years exp. and makes .34 a mile?
Overall, I find his post very suspicious. He signed up just yesterday to reply to my post which was in response to Yogi. With the way it was written, and with what was said, I think "Big Ole Bear" is "Yogi" and I think he/she is a recruiter.
Oh, and just an observation, lots of companies call their dispatchers DM's, but most drivers I know that have been driving a number of years, including myself, still say "dispatcher" just out of habit.

And in response to his claim of 2500 miles a week average, that is also false. Every driver I talked to, including myself, received 1500-2500 miles a week, that is a 2000 week average. Most of my weeks were around 1800 with my lowest being an 800 mile week, but I had two 2500 mile weeks in the last three months I was out.
And just an FYI, a 2500 mile week is $650-$675 a week take-home at their mileage pay. I changed to company while I was looking for a new job and my checks were around $300 a week during this time.
And when I did leave, they forced me to drop my truck off in Liberal Kansas, not at their Dallas terminal. There is NO public transportation out of this town and the only way to get home was to have my wife drive 400 miles out there and pick me up. -
In response to beerslave....
I have a problem with "big ole bear" and his claims about this company.
You can have all the problems you want and apparently you have many. You are a disgruntled EX employee. While I still work here. Hmmm
First, he claimed that he never sits with National Carriers. All beef loads have a "drop dead time" meaning they have to be ready by that time for the driver to legally make the first scheduled stop. In 2.5 years working here ive seen 2 loads past that drop dead time. #1 was 1 hour and #2 was 4 hours{which i still made on time delivery to both}.
I know what it was...they said ahhh its beerslaves load take yer time loading it boys so he will have something else to whine about.
He also claimed no forced dispatch to NYC. That is true but if they really need you to take one and you decline it, they retaliate.
Ive never been "retaliated"on.Maybe they just didn't like you?
Paychecks are not late, he wasn't wrong about that, you just never get your full pay, I.E. breakdown, layover, detention.
I get all the extras every time. they must really have hated you

I started driving in 95'. reasons i work here for what I make is none of your problem as you have to many to deal with on your own.
Overall, I find his post very suspicious. He signed up just yesterday to reply to my post which was in response to Yogi. With the way it was written, and with what was said, I think "Big Ole Bear" is "Yogi" and I think he/she is a recruiter.
Now that's just hilarious. yup I signed up day or so ago but please don't try to flatter yourself thinking you've discovered the great conspiracy against you.
Oh, and just an observation, lots of companies call their dispatchers DM's, but most drivers I know that have been driving a number of years, including myself, still say "dispatcher" just out of habit.
DM is shorter to type then dispatcher. derrrrrr
And in response to his claim of 2500 miles a week average, that is also false. Every driver I talked to, including myself, received 1500-2500 miles a week, that is a 2000 week average. 2000 one week then 3000 the next I thought averaged to 2500? what calculator are you using?
And just an FYI, a 2500 mile week is $650-$675 a week take-home at their mileage pay. I changed to company while I was looking for a new job and my checks were around $300 a week during this time.
#### your good. Now I am impressed, lets see. 2500 miles times .34 is umm errrr $850. now lets take away Obama's cut. YIKES..Ok now lets take away our insurances. DOUBLE YIKES. Now don't forget to subtract that weekly advance...God i'm tired just thinking about it.
And when I did leave, they forced me to drop my truck off in Liberal Kansas, not at their Dallas terminal. There is NO public transportation out of this town and the only way to get home was to have my wife drive 400 miles out there and pick me up.
Only an IDIOT would tell a company they quit before they were ready to get out of the truck.
Ive never recruited a driver to any company in 17+ years and have no intentions of starting now.But I am looking forward to being an active member here on the forums.
Now if Y'all will excuse me Cheyenne,Wy is calling. They need my OJ from Florida.WesternEmpire Thanks this. -
First of all big ole bear, there is no name calling allowed on this site.
i think you might want to re-read my post. I said up to, that's max, 2500 miles a week. I also said AFTER taxes that's around $650-$675 a week.
I don't know if your a dispatchers "pet" or what but, it is a fact that most, if not all drivers there are getting 1800-2500 a week. I talked to drivers when I worked there and still do now.
I don't know why your such a cheerleader for these people but, I will tell you if you've been driving 17 years and only making .34 a mile, you got a problem. Most companies that hire right out of school are paying that.
As far as being disgruntled, no, I'm not. I would just like to help someone else in staying away from the nightmare I had to go through and you posting these lies is only going to hurt another driver.
There is a reason they hire 20 people a week and most of the new hires only have 1-2 years exp. and that they come from Swift or Central. The reason, it's out about them and quality drivers stay away. But, you obviously don't know the difference between a good company and a bad one.
.34 a mile, that's pretty funny. Good luck with that.123456 Thanks this. -
Oh, I almost forgot, when I did quit, I was at home. The sole reason they forced me to drop off my truck in Liberal was because there was no transportation from there. For anyone who doesn't know, trucks are not kept in Liberal, only Irving TX.. They even went as far to tell me if I did take my truck to their only terminal, in Irving, they would put an abandonment on my DAC. Yup, really good people there.
You want me to talk about Rick next and why he left? Or maybe you can just brag some more about all the money your making at .34 a mile. I made that much once, ten years ago when I first started driving. -
Overall, I find his post very suspicious

Clearly, beerslave and big ol bear saw different sides of the same coin. What did Rodney King say, "Why can't we just all get along!" The fellow that married my third wife seems to like her just fine...me on the other hand............

Um excuse me.. I was talking about leasing my own truck on with them. Not driving company, or leasing theirs. Thanks for any useful information about that.
