From my experience with Drug testing (I have a few years experience administering them and went through a pretty extensive training on the process from collection to actual testing, to how long each type of drug stays in your system) False positives are not that big of an issue. When it does happen you have to be able to account for what has gone into your system. Granted my experience had nothing to do with D.O.T. I had to take a test while I was on a prescription of percocet (which gives a true positive for opiates) and I informed the tester, he got my prescription information and there were no problems at all.
Basically the way the test are set up I could have gotten away with using illegal narcotics while on percocet as long as it was an opium based drug. But never been into drugs. -

I agree,if you have to ask then you have no business driving.Does'nt matter to me what kind of testing they do.Also when you get hurt on the job you're going to have to take a drug test so my suggestion is stay off drugs COMPLETELY and quit asking what kind of test is performed. If you don't do drugs then you have nothing to worry about.
Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -

Yep I am familiar with Prozac, I was on it for a little over a year. It was a rough one to get started on. I am confused with your entire approach on this subject though. You keep talking about prescribed medications. This post was initially started about people trying to basically figure out their best chances for passing drug testing which is ridiculous in my opinion. If a person needs to be on a prescribed medication I have no problems with it as long as it is safe for them to drive and operate machinery, if it is not then they need a different medication -
