    Nah. Clutch only gets pressed when I stop, sometimes when I'm turning (having the rear end switch sides can screw your shift up) and when I'm really in a hurry.

    Truck also sits in neutral at red lights. No way am I holding the clutch down that long and that often every day. Anticipate the light change and put her in gear before it's time to go.

    I think it really depends on what you haul and what the road conditions are. Big companies heard the word "save" so they think lets get automatic trucks when they haul paper in Pennsylvania when its snowing lol... I personally like a standard 13 spd cause you get the control of the truck especially when I like hauling heavy equipment or flatbed. I've driven an automatic and I just didn't like the pulling power vs a standard truck. My opinion :)

    Sysco and US Foods are mostly automatic.. I shuttle drive for Sysco and we use Freightliner Cascadia's automatics and I never wana go back to a manual. When your pulling doubles with 80k for 400-500 miles a night thru the mountains of central and eastern PA, I can't think of anything better than driving auto's, I've been driving a long time and never ever want to go back to driving manuals again. The guys that think they're men and blah blah blah cause they still drive manuals, it's cause they are stuck working for garbage companies and will never have the chance and luxury of driving automatics.

    You are absolutely correct "to each his own" what I meant by that was a lot of people I know work for bottom feeder type companies and they bust our balls for driving auto's, when in fact I know they would love them if their companies had them.. or something along those lines. Just like OTR trucking is not for me, never done it and never will, but I respect the hell out of Long Haulers for doing what they do.

    You da' man!!! :biggrin_25514::yes2557:

    Ditto, except I only have a 13, wished I had an 18 Low-low sometimes, as there's places I could use the super-slow crawling in reverse. I've driven an 18spd one time and loved it. More options, and you know what they say.. the more the merrier :biggrin_25519:
