How long are you on the road for???

I work 3 weeks and then take at least a week off. During those three weeks I get home at least 1-2 days each week.

 

I am also from South Daytona, still live there but also have a place near about 40 miles outside of Birmingham. Just not enough freight OUT of Florida for a FB, you can ALWAYS get into to but it takes an act of congress to get out. Living up here I try to be home every week. Occasionally that doesnt happen though because for some reason there seems to be a lot of drivers that want to come to Birmingham. Also there are alot of flatbed operations out of Birmingham all trying to come back in and get something else going back out. Sometimes you get stuck in places like TEXAS (where there is an absolute lack of outbound freight coming east) or you get up in some western states like CO, WY, WA, or OR. You dont have the ability to go and come back in a week. So when I get a pull going that far I try to get back by the end of the 2nd week. But good luck finding freight out of Florida, I know becasue I live there! So my suggestion is unless you want to relocate dont get into flatbedding. Simply not enough freight out of FL!

 

6 six days on road; home for one day than head back out. Do about 6-7 trips than a week off. Running team.

 

I have drill once a month , i would stay out until its time for drill. Then i would come home for 5 days.

 

Living in Daytona, you will most likely bounce out of FL each trip up to Savanah or middle georgia for a descent rate. I have a few friends who live near West Palm and they just go to Savanah and run to the midwest, then grab a load paying well going back to S. Florida. They said they make up for the deadhead by getting a good rate back home..... I have no idea tho.

As for me, I tend to stay out for 14 days. I try to be home everyother weekend, but sometimes the money is just too good and I'll stay out 18-20 days, but then I take 5-7 off.

 

Well I'm out 9 / 10 months most of the years.
Then take off for home during the winter. This year was only home for a month..
but I also have a place in the states we stop at every now and then..
Used to work 6 months take a month off. Then I got married and my wife travels with me. But some wkends if we are parked some where we kinda take a short break for the wkend..

 

How the hell you doing that? theres only 8 days in a week

 

I leave out on Sunday Nights and get by the house every day or two and always home Friday Evenings. I am an owner op for two reasons and they are Hometime and Money. Thats it. Pretty simple.

 

That's been my plan since day one, but I can't stop chasing them big dollar loads. My wife says she is going to start booking my freight so that i'm not tempted to look at the load boards LOL
