Because you won't get a consistant 3k miles per week running solo... this isn't van freight. The extra miles available in a team/training environment will get you over the $2k mark consistantlymost weeks.

Bottom line is if you gotta have 2k a week avg you better stay where you're at. Not gonna make that here solo.

 

soo... i went to my local dmv to get an appointment for the first permit test.. and they tell me i need a DOT physical card before i take the test...

i though we got our dot physical at Springfield before getting the actual cdl...

has it changed and now has to be done before permit? this in kansas.

 

As far as i know, no state requires you to have a dot phys before a permit test. Are you sure they didn't misunderstand you that you just wanted a permit test?

 

You'll get one in Springfield no matter what you do up front.

I can't speak for Kansas, but Colorado requires that you produce a medical card before they'll allow you to take the permit tests. They don't want medically unqualified persons driving a CMV in any capacity. So yeah, if you want to get the permit done up front, you'll have to do two medical exams - or just deal with it all in Springfield.

For what it's worth, same in Arizona.

 

Same in Virginia too. You can only get the cdl permit without the med card if you will be running farm equip. or bus with non profit company etc.

 

To any prime drivers, will prime pay your way back home if they were sending you home for a medical problem that may arise in the physical to go home to get it resolved and pay your way back? I understand at the point if you would not be able to make it back they would send you a bill for the return home bus ticket. if not, that's okay, just asking the question.
