OK so I am new here and plan on going into the trucking world and 'no I don't mind shifting' I just wonder how much different it is from shifting a full size truck thats manual and under a load. I understand its different but is the principal the same? I have double clutched and floated gears but I assume its wayyy different.??

IMO manual shift is more fun to drive. I feel I have more control of the truck.

I want to learn to shift no matter what I will drive. I know that as I enter the trucking world I will prolly have to drive crappy old trucks to start off until I have pounded enough pavement to earn some respect and credibility. But I would think a manual would be the safer to drive since you would have more control. And it would let you control your speed without heating the breaks as much.

OK so is floating the gears different as well? I only ask because I have seen ppl that think they can drive and grind and tear gears to crap then blame the trans. But I have been doing it for years and never had an issue.
