I got my cdl A in August 2012 I signed a contract with PAM...i guess tht was my first mistake lol... Anywayz in November, they fired me for using my GPS and put a company policy violation on my DAC... I have noticed it is VERY hard to find a job with only a few months OTR when u have a bad DAC. On top of the no experience I also do not have my certificates from school because PAM will not let me have them since I didn't work there for a year. Do any of u have any suggestions on how I can find a company to hire me?? I'm in the dallas area and have dry van, flatbed, and shipping container experience. I have also transported frac tanks and can drive a 10 speed AND a 13.... I just can't find anybody to give me a chance because of my DAC:biggrin_25510:

    Chinatown Thanks this.

they fired you simply for using a gps? SERIOUSLY? if thats true, my list is up to 4 companies. id be disputing that with hireright. theres nothing anywhere says you cant use a gps... if it was against company policy, i suppose thats a "valid" reason to let you go, but cant imagine how thats a valid entry in your dac.

Many drivers use a gps.. hmm fired eh.. I'd suggest to simply keep knocking on doors, perhaps try some smaller outfits...If your'e up to it they're still layin pipe for oil in texas. Though it might be kind of rough for a ladie driver..

I've heard of companies having "no gps" policies before. Just didn't know PAM was one of them. I had a Marten driver tell me one time that they were not supposed to use them. I asked her how they could forbid you using a "tool" and force you to just use the book. She told me that they didn't even want them using the road atlas. She said that the Qualcomm system they had included company routing instructions for each load and a built in GPS which is why atlases were unnecessary and GPS devices were discouraged or forbidden.

Which shows to go you..<G> that the perverts that set things up for no gps and no maps have no idea what driving anything is like. Like computers never fail, and always pick the "best" route. And heaven forbid you should know how to read a map.... you might even be able to think! Ok, that's another 2 added to my do not even think of going there list...

    Good luck and drive safe!

What they put on my DAC was tht I was terminated for company policy violation. It doesn't say specifically what it was for

sorry, no suggestions, but Pam is definitely on my do not even think of going there list.
If what you signed said No gps, then I think you're stuck with the DAC report, otherwise, I'd try to dispute it.
I know the gps has saved my butt a few times just riding my bike or driving my car cross country. It's also got me over 30 miles past where I was going once or 2x's. although that was out in south/west Texas.....
    Good luck

File a dispute with DAC, keep fighting it........any company that relies on DAC reporting to make hiring decisions without hearing both sides of the story is a company I would never want to work for. DAC is a joke, any decent company out there knows this!!
