LOL, I know what you mean with the CPAP. I could see people doing all sorts of devious things to me while I wear it. It is anything but inconspicuous. It's strapped up on your head like a bad orthodontic piece and mounted on your nose like cheap scuba gear. I could see someone either unplugging it so I can begin to snore loudly or blowing something scented into it like an incense or some of that chocolate scented Axe Spray. The possibilities are endless for shenanigans. I would most likely laugh if someone screwed with it while I was sleeping unless it was in the morning. I might have to push the budget to the limit and stay one more night here at the motel tomorrow. I'm really trying to avoid sleeping at the terminal. I can see waking up in the morning in a spooning position with a guy smelling of Cheetos and feet. The more I think about it, I like my little motel room.
There's probably worse places to be than Texas right now. I'm thinking New England specifically. Sounds like a freakin mess up there.
I can't wait to get one of those lunch box cookers. Sorry to hear your's burnt out. At least it led a life of utility and much use to the point where it could cook no more. Let us know how the new one is and what it looks like. Food porn.
Yeah, this whole Monday thing is weird. I would think if they had a trainee waiting so very patiently and so ready to go that they wouldn't delay if they had a driver locally (my mentor) with a working truck. I'm really curious what this is all about. I hope they don't take my mentor away from me or delay this whole process any longer. If so I'm going to find me some cardboard and appropriate headscarf and set up a breakdancing marathon in the middle of the driver lounge until they get sick of me and mentor me out. I'm starting to know the housekeeping staff here on a first name basis and that is no good.
Excitement for today consisted of a short ride on the bike down to Albertsons and an MSNBC Lockup marathon. -
Speaking of boots, I have to pass this on to all the rookies out there-
i just bought a new pair of workbooks. If you're in the market for a good pair of boots to wear at a dock, loading/unloading, or just whatever, try the ones I just bought. Georgia Boots "Athens Wellington". About 150 bucks give or take, but probably the most comfortable boots I've ever worn. You will need to get a good pair of boots to work in. Some docks you bump will require work shoes. These are also good in weather because they are waterproof. As a bonus, they have riveted pull tabs for when you have to put them on in a hurry while trying to jump out of the window before your girlfriends husband gets through he door.
Its like Christmas for my feet is evening -
Lol, Doc. Hope they get you straight soon, bro. I know it must be a pain in the ### waiting for so long to hit the road.

Sounds good. I will have to save for those as they are a little rich for me at the moment. Currently I have some Bilt steel-toed riding boots from Cycle Gear that were on clearance for $20, down from $120. They look waterproof but they are not, two of the shoelace rivets have snapped off in the past month from rusting out and they are not warm. But they cover my feet and have decent traction.
I'll definitely look into the Athens Wellingtons after a few paychecks. Good info.Jakaby Thanks this. -

I talked to a super-trucker this evening, also waiting for a load in Laredo. I say he's a super trucker because he parked at the pumps, filled up, and left his truck at the pump to go inside. His pants were tucked into the tops of his boots. He was even wearing black gloves with the finger tips exposed. The first items he's shopping for are CB parts. Nice guy, I'm sure. But he starts bad mouthing the Laredo TA, bad-mouthing the company, even said they can come get their truck and he'll just go out and buy his own. He wants to run 90 anyway. Turns out he's actually training and the guy just can't get it. Said he's about to leave him behind. Turns out he leaves the pump and guess who he parks next to? Yours truly. The part of his that will give y'all bad dreams is that the guy is driving for Swift. I saw the kid outside the truck and I tried to encourage him, but I think he's had enough of this jag-off.
Point being- it looks like Swift will have a mentor for Doc!
BTW- can you tell I'm bored to tears this evening? LOLBigdubber and ShamrockSalono Thank this.
