The invasion of privacy issues is a GIANT concern. It would not be so bad to have cameras in the trucks if they were pointed throught the front window of the trucks. The issues come from the outside of the trucks, not the inside. Can you imagine the ruckus of the sleeper invading cameras is going to bring? Not only for the drivers bring on lot lizards, but from the family the driver brings on? What are thry going to say? Cameras in truck NEED to be pointed to the front of the cabs looking ONE way through the windshield.

 

C'mon, man. Cameras pointed inside the cab? Don't think so.

 

This is probably one of the most rediculous this I have heard of. There is no point in having a camera in the cab recording the inner cab of the truck. I would refuse to have it or cover the inner cab cam. You have the right to privacy when you are on your own time and this just takes that away completely. They are already tracking you and probably know most of the issues from the truck as or before you do.

 

I am very glad my career is over, unless something happens that makes me go back out. I had 34 years, off and on, of fun trucking. Each year got progressively worse. Things have changed so much in the last few years since I was running coast to coast that trucking doesn't seem like the career I chose. When I started it was a fun job, home a couple times a week and every weekend, all the miles I wanted, hardly ever filled out logs. There were not nearly as many interstate highways, but hardly any weigh stations either, and cops everywhere were not looking to hit you up for money either.

I feel sorry for what you new drivers have to go through these days, and even the veterans that are still with these big companies. The glory days of driving are over, and the slave days are here to stay. This is one of the few times that being older has it's advantages. CSA, mega carriers, insurance companies, and last, but not least, the government, have ruined what once used to be a nice, very fun, good paying, respected career.

 

There are still many that have that dream of being a productive truck driver in america and for others its all they know how to do. And I think it is a great lose to america that it has become less than ideal to become a o/o but with the way things are there just isn't very many ppl willing to invest there money and life to be a trucker like it used to be. I can remember hearing many company drives talking about how they would own there truck and be there own boss and choose there own loads about 15 years ago but that dream has faded and fallen apart for so many that now only a few dare to try it. Such a shame that#something so noble has been lost when there is truly no need for the cause of the loss. Just MHO.

Haha pretty good plan with the silicone. They can't say it damages anything since it will peel off as needed. And you regain your privacy in the process. This company is rediculous expecting there drivers to allow them to record them 24/7 I will never accept working for them. Hope they never offer me a job cause it will Bea rude remark to them about this subject.
