Actually, it varies from state to state as well as what is written in an employer's "employee handbook". One of my former employers (WAY back in the day) had a written policy against seeing the contents of your file. At the time I was "young & dumb" and didn't think too much of it, but later on in my career, I wondered what the big deal was and if it had unfavorable information on me or other employees.... I guess I will never know - they went bankrupt a few years after I stopped working there.

Anyway, here's a link with more detailed information regarding one's personnel file: http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/personnel-file-rights-33589.html that one may find useful.

With friends like that, you sure don't need any enemies........did the two of you have some sort of discussion about GPS before he/she did that? Did your teammate do this as a prank, or why did he/she do it? Did your teammate realize what would happen between the two of you once this happened?

This should not make you un hire able the biggest thing working against you is low experience I would dispute the dac first if pam doesn't respond it will be removed and even if it isn't it is still pretty minor and drivers are in big demand the thing to be careful of is when applying for jobs check the companies safety ratings take it from my experience you do not want to work for an outlaw company . Do your research and knock on enough doors I suspect you will be able to find a job .

Here is another sad fact about the mega carrier school-to-trucker paid training contracts. You are considered an "at-will" employee during your time under contract. You can be terminated or resign at any time and for any reason or no reason. It says so in your contract, its discussed at C1 orientation, and (if PAM is like USA Truck) its also discussed at your company orientation before you go out with a trainer. I know this from experience. I imagine you probably went to C1 Ft. Worth. I went there in February 2011 and contracted through Driver Solutions to USA Truck. They go through that whole shebang on the first or second day of classroom when half of you are doing physicals and the other half signing contracts. The lady explains how the "free tuition" works and what you will be required to do to pay it back, or in this case work it off. Also, what your liabilities are if you fail to do so whether through your own fault or the carrier.

HOw does this apply to her situation? PAM does not have to provide any kind of explanation other than that her services are no longer required. I'm not defending PAM, I think it sucks, but it is what it is.

I also like a lot of these responses shes getting such as "Why do you people keep messing with megacarriers?," "Go to work for a small company.", etc. Well everybody wants to find that small outfit that lets you run a large car wide open, make 3500 miles a week, not bother you, and let you go home every weekend. Problem is that most of those don't take newbies or do CDL training, and in her case...., well she has less than 6 months credible experience, no paper logs to prove mileage so PAM will have to be convinced to turn over printouts of her e-logs, no CDL school certificate for an insurance company, and a bad reference. We can argue all day over whether or not its only bottom feeder companies that use DAC but she still has to list PAM as previous employment. Even Joe's Truckin' Company is probably going to call on a reference whether they use DAC or not and what will PAM say?

    Best of luck to you!

I would be happy to be fired from a company that takes pictures of me in my workplace.
