That is the way mine is setup.
Other than that, any company that wants me to freeze or sweat my arse off just to save them a couple gallons of fuel would get the keys back in a minute!
80 degrees outside in the sun would be 90+ in the cab! Geeze! They are nuts!

It is more an EPA and CARB thing for emissions. Convenient too for the company owners!
-
Dose anybody know where the sensor is located on the radiator?

There are no sensors that determine when you can or cannot idle your engine. If you have an engine with idle shut down that is programmed in to be emissions CARB compliant the engine will watch its own coolant temp. If the coolant temp is hot enough it will shut down after 5 mins. If you start a cold engine it will run until it reaches a minimum temp of about 140 degrees, then the shutdown timer will start. There are many exceptions for this to allow longer idle times, and to allow full isd elimination but they involve trucks in other types of work, not line haul. Technically what happens for elimination is we have to start a case file with vehicle programming support to request a new program to take out isd. We have to have a legitimate reason for the request, like installing a pto. Like I mentioned before, one way to take out isd is to program it so the system thinks it is running a pto, when actually there is not. Technically the dealers should be verifying that ptos are installed before making the request, so not all dealers may be willing to do this, it is a no no to make a false request. If you get authorization to reprogram the ECM to take CARB isd out, you have to install a new engine emission label. In fact, International will not give you the program update until the new label has been installed. So now you have an emission label that says you are CARB isd exempt because of PTO operations. If you are ever inspected by the smog police and you are idling too long without a PTO you could be in trouble. At this time emissions enforcement is next to nothing, so anyone can get away with it. How long though... who knows.
P.S. If you have a Maxxforce engine, you could buy a laptop, interface box and the engine diagnostic program ServiceMaxx. ISD is 100% disabled whenever Servicemaxx is running and connected to the ECM. -
Does leaving the tractor brake released work on the MaxxForce?
I know it did on some Volvo trucks i used to drive. -
It will still shut down. What resets the timer is a change of park brake state. So if you have the brakes set, then release them, the timer resets. If the ECM sees no change, or no inputs from the clutch switch, acc pedal, or brake pedal it will shut down.

I would just shut down, save the hassle, go find some trees , and then using my head i would start building, if were me i would build a swamp cooler , but ice running almost like a gallon of gas almost , well maybe not , but at $1.99 , i rember it at 79 cent's i would go that route, then you take it with you from truck too truck, i believe the little book states in there the driver has too be comfortable too do his job and too get a good night sleep , to be fully rested for the next day work, and if your sweating and tossing and turning , that's not comfortable, go online search in Google, pretend your going camping , there ton's of stuff too heat thru cooling for your tent on there , if were me i fergit the truck, and think how can i cool myself

I have tried the modifying the temp censer to be hot and cold did not work. I have tried many combinations of setting the cruse control and suing the peddles still didn't work. The only thing I have been able to get to work nonstop is to hit the throttle and place something in its pinch point just above the peddle to keep the engine at 1500 RPMs but that's not good for it. So I need to figure something else out.

Idea! Does any one know if there is a way to cross some wires or something to make the RPM gauge show 2x the actual RPMs? If so this mite be the fix we are looking for. So install a splice from the 2 or so wires to be crosses and connect them to a switch that you can turn on and off so when your parked you turn it on truck is idling at 600RPMs but computer thinks its at 1200 and shows it on RPM gauge. As I stated in my last post It will idle if its at 1200 RPMs.
