Sitting here in Nebraska on a 34, cleaning my truck and I thought of something!

I stopped at Iowa80 a couple months ago and they had scrap carpet for sale. $1.99 for a 2x2 piece. GET SOME!!!
Lay it down in your sleeper. Id imagine it'd be much easier to clean the sleeper and it'll make it a little more homely. Just pick it up and shake it off to clean it. Iowa80 is the only place ive seen it at, but im sure you can get some from a carpet store for dirt cheap while on hometime.

    Sheriff1/6 and DocWatson Thank this.

Great idea!! I happened to be at Home Depot and found a carpet remnant that was about that size. Makes a nice place to put down your feet. Of course Home Depot wanted a lot more money for it.

Taking my first load with my mentor to Nebraska tomorrow morning from Sumner, WA. Maybe will bump into you on the road. Look for the newbie crawling along in the slow lane.

But, unfortunately... I'm not going anywhere right this second. Just hooked to my load at the shipper and have a flat trailer time. Waiting for onroad to get back to me.

I'm now sitting near Grand Juncion, CO at a truck stop.

My day started out ok until I pulled in to the fuel/DEF aisle at the SLC Terminal. Getting fuel was no problem, but getting DEF was something else. I had asked several people who work there what the procedure was for getting DEF. Everyone told me to go to the service desk and ask for the key. I went to the service desk where three people were standing around and there was one on the phone. They stood around BSing and finally scattered. I was still standing there. Finally a guy came and had to move his toolbox past me and asked what I needed. I told him I wanted to get some DEF and needed the key. He said he would send someone right out....Twenty minutes passed and no one came out. I went back in, got some washer fluid and went back to the service desk. One person still on the phone and no one else around. I go back to my truck. Another driver pulled in behind me and then asked me if I was calling the office. I told him what I had been told and he just laughed and said they always say they will send someone right out and they never do. After 30 minutes I call the terminal and get transferred to the shop where no one picks up. Finally, after almost 40 minutes a guy comes out. He acts like I had asked if I could date his mother.

The rest of the day was ok. I made my delivery to the plumbing outfit. It was a tough back to hit the dock but I did it without causing injury or death. I found out that pay for a full unload is $80, unloading with a pallet jack is $40, and a driver assist is $30. I don't know what they will classify mine as. I put half the load on the dock and the other half I slid to the back of the truck. I guess I'll wait and see.

I was able to pick up my next load early. I ended up getting out of there about an hour early then my pickup time. I'm glad I did because if I had waited for a live load I might still be there. Everything went smooth for the rest of the day and her I sit.

    That's all folks.

I hate getting DEF at terminals. Most of the time, I'm nowhere near a terminal when I decide that I need def. I wait until night shift comes on then send in a company advance request for DEF. the always approve it for me. Day shift usually asks why I hadn't filled up at a terminal, then wait 2 hours and approve my request anyways.

I did have a strange thing happen today. While waiting to be loaded, another Swift driver came up and gave me two boxes of Tony's bread sticks. He said he got them off a crashed reefer that was going to scrap the entire load. The dispatch I had said I had to weigh the load and I asked him if his was the same. He said yes and he said it was a way to make some money. I asked how that was. He said whenever he has to weigh the gets a company advance for $25 and the scale only costs him $10. I just let it go. Even with a Company advance, don't they withhold that out of your pay until you turn in the receipts? I can't figure out how he's making money at this? Anyone???

He's trying to pull a scam on Swift, and your correct its an ADVANCE, therefore its your own money being sent to you. He'll figure it out. Not the first driver I've heard out there try that. He thinks he making 15 bucks off of Swift every time and he's not.
