What is the worst thing to haul in the oil field? The hardest, dirties, or whatever. I figure that job will be needed and I can get paid more. I don't want easy because then anybody will do easy. No drop and hook for me. I want the job everybody quits. I just want the honest facts so I know what I am getting into before I get into it. Any day you will find dirt on my cowboy hat and poop on my boots and I like it that way.

Well I never worked in the oil fields, but I have pulled them pneumatics, hauled a lot of sand with them. It can be a major pain in the butt trying to blow off that sand, if you try and do it too fast. If the equipment is good, blower, hose, seals, pressure gauges, no air leaks, it's not bad, but if you have crappy equipment, then it's going to be a nightmare. Frac sand I'd imagine is probably a little more coarse, rough, etc. to break apart that shale, than the other kind of sand I've hauled out of Oklahoma.

You want a job on a super sucker crew. They come in with a high powered bobtail vac truck and clean the pits and mud tanks on rigs. It's kinda like mucking a stall that eighteen inches deep. I've done a little of it and won't do it again. The pay can vary widely depending on companies though. I've seen anywhere from 12hr to 20hr.

I'd have to concur with the super sucker crew...if you're a swamper you're right down in the tanks/pits. Never done it myself, nor would I as the hours are insane and very often (around here at least) you're on-call. Pays well enough as there aren't exactly a huge line of people waiting to do it.

Critters what is the work time like? Is it work for a few days, hours or what? Are you always on call? I am not afraid of work or dirt. I can also learn things pretty fast. I will look into getting on a rig crew.

Thats what I heard also. The money sounds great but you are on call 24/7.

Nobody shooting at me or trying to blow me up? Sounds like a cake walk to me.
