You can ask any rock star on the planet and I would bet they will tell you that they have a public life and a private life. Just because some one is a performer and enjoys the lime light doesn't mean they want to be watched all the time. That is a common misconception among ppl that have never been there. And as I said it is just my opinion that it is a invasion of privacy and obviously it is OK with some drivers but if that camera is facing anywhere other than at the windshield or the driver seat where a "event" that needs to be documented would take place it is unreasonable and I see it as a way to force drivers to live the company way witch is rediculous seeing as everyone is different.

I had to look at the pic again and saw the camera up by the windshield i misinterperated the pic and i posted wrongly on previous post, i have to disagree with (allow me) as all the places that the mod refered to are temporary senario's, when you go to a bank, atm, a parking lot, etc. you are being watched but only on a temp. basis, if ( allow me ) is right about it being an event camera and is not on all the time i guess that could be a different thing, but it is still wrong to have the camera pointed in the sleeper area.....

I just started my 6 week training with a driver trainer...he had one of those driver camera installed the day i started with him. MY first day out OTR i was coming up on a red light the car beside me was in a turn only lane he sped up and pulled out in front of me...if i had hit and everybody knows that a truck driver is automatically at fault no matter what. If i had hit that stupid car and if my driver trainer hadnt of had the driver camera installed it would of saved me from all that hassell. And another thing...FFE doesnt get the video feed the company who runs the drivercam gets it. Reviews it then they send it to FFE.

If a frog had wings it wouldn't bust its butt every time it jumped. No one is disputing the validity of forward, or even side facing cameras. The problem is a cam that is focused on a driver and the whole cab area, which according to the picture, this camera does. Where is any kind of privacy when you are at the mercy of someone sitting in an office watching and controlling when this camera operates aside from the set paremeters that automatically operate it. If you don't think people will be sitting around watchings cams for fun and sport, you don't know human nature.

Why not have your home owners insurance put cams in your house to watch and see if you are doing anything they think may cause a fire in your house. Same difference. If you drive for any time at all, you will know that driving for hours without reaching for a snack or something to drink is not feasible. How about a few hours in you want to eat the other half of the sub you bought earlier. Are you going to pull into a rest area and go on off duty not driving, or eat your sub driving and hope no one is watching you, lest you get fired? I can see where knowing the last 30 seconds of a drivers actions before an accident could come in handy, but why show the whole cab, and why have the ability to remotely turn on a camera at any time.

Every day, every driver will do something that safety could construe into a fireable offense, be it safety reasons or violation of company policy, yawning too much, eyes closed too long, not watching mirrors enough, or anything. The man behind the camera is determining your future with his interpertation of your actions, based on how he feels that day.

Yeah trucker joe and im sure those at drivercam.com are well versed at reviewing the actions of a truck driver, NOT... twice I have been called by safety for backing up and hooking up to a trl, was a camera needed for that too? Of course you being with a trainer and all it may be helpful to you considering you had such a hard time controlling your vehicle at such a slow speed at a signal as to avoid a collision ...whew what a close one...please....the only thing that camera is good for is to examine my hemroids when I bend over in front of it..

is their a camera on the backside that monitors the traffic or just a camera viewing the inside of the cab?

The camera films the outside traffic and the interior of the cab...

Thank you, I'm not sure if the cover will work on one side or the other, or both, looking at the cover what do you think? Using the pizza box as a cover is the cheaper method, lol
