they don't have to be wrinkle free but they shouldn't be flapping in the breeze like batman's cape either. Simply tacking the 4 corners before you start on the walls helps ALOT. also hooking inside the rub rail keeps more air from getting underneath your tarp and the more pinch points you have on the sides, the tighter your tarp will be and the better it will look. Yes it does take practice and no you don't have to break out a tape measure to make sure it is perfectly centered. The tarp job to many is your signature on the load. Some peoples writing is easier than others to read.

If you bring all your food, what do you recommend for those your training? Do you have space for their food as well? Should they only bring 7 days worth? What types of food do you recommend for them to bring (frozen, fresh....)? If most trainers stop to eat how much $$$$ should one bring for this part?

On Communication with your FM: Student and I delivered to a jobsite just north of Chicago downtown this week at the address on the w/a. Foreman on the site said they were going to take some of the product off at the delivery address, then we followed them to the 2nd drop site, 5 blocks south, then the 3rd and final drop was one block east and then 5 blocks north, across the railroad bridge they were replacing. DIRECTLY ACROSS THE TRACKS FROM THE INITIAL STOP!!!..... When the automatic "we show it has been 2 hours......" message came in I free formed a msg detailing what was taking so long. Response came back, "when did this become a multistop delivery?" (don't think it was from my fm bc she initials all of her msgs). My reply, "when we got here" and detailed what the foreman was having us do. FM agreed Maverick shouldn't play shuttle w/o being paid to play shuttle. That night when I parked I got response msgs indicating I had a multi stop load. Next day it was confirmed $30 multi stop pay for each additional stop. In this case, it paid to communicate COMMUNICATION WITH TRAINING DEPARTMENT: Next w/a was Chicago to Huger, Sc. Student was ready to eval out, Jenni in the training department saw we were not being routed thru NLR and asked if I wanted to drop student in Gary. Load went right by Students house so it was agreed upon to have student dropped off at home and bussed to NLR. That's a first for me! I've had some students willing to pay for their own transportation back to NLR to eval out so perhaps my opinions expressed that it's more economical to bus students to eval out than pay trainers extra to keep them in the truck til routed thru NLR sunk in somewhere. LOL. So student went to pu with me and was dropped off close to home Tuesday evening to be bussed originally Friday am to eval out Saturday. Future conversation with student said they rescheduled his bus ride due to weather until Monday to eval on Tuesday. 27 down...........................NEXT!

Picked up my 28th student this week Thursday at NLR. Hard working since he was a young kid, very interested in learning the Maverick Way, MPG, and being as successful as one can at Maverick for both himself and the company. Had a 10 pm delivery at the Home Depot on the west side of Little Rock. BOLs said 8pm so we were there at 730. Checked in precisely at 8 and the time given on the w/a by Maverick of 10pm was correct. Arrived at HQ, Thursday shortly after noon and was asked to reshoot a portion of the new video that's being put together for recruiting that I had participated in a coupla weeks ago. Evidently the mudflaps on my truck in the video previously recorded although washed, showed their age and did not appear new enough. Got a sneak peek of the video they were putting together and its great and hopefully will be ready soon. so the load myself and Chris from Extended Services were going to be shown tarping was a trailer of rolled roofing from certainteed in little rock. The driver who's load it was had come by the yard to get new equipment for the video shoot, ie 2 brand new Lumber Tarps (8 foot drops for the newbies) and had gone to the shipper, loaded, secured, tarped, put in his leaving shipper, and left the property only to be stopped a mile down the road by employees of the customer and informed he had 4 pallets of the wrong material on his trailer so he returned to the shipper, untarped the load, unsecured the 4 incorrect pallets, then had to secure them and retarp the load again. When he got to HQ, he dropped the trailer and hooked a brand new tractor onto the load for the video shoot. The Mudflaps looked exquisite!!! lol. Luckily, only the front tarp had to be loosened from the load and videoed being tarped for the new recruiting video. Coming soon to a Maverick Website near you. Rated M for Maverick
