Is there anybody else with T-Mobile that drives OTR that can verify whether it's decent coverage or not while on the road?

I run mostly the east coast, and pretty much live in Canada... before i was with Knight and did all 48 states, and I've had TMobile the entire time..

I'll say go with TMobile. TMobile half arse'd merged with ATT, who bought out Cingular, who bought out SunCom. The network coverage is there, and they're pretty much always upgrading/updating their towers.. If i drop a call it's usually because i'm jumping towers. Get out of range of the one i'm on, or the signal get's blocked by a rock formation, and then my phone spends two minutes searching for a better tower to work off of.

Sprint, merged with Nextel, and i'm not sure what that was supposed to accomplish.. They're still trying to aquire towers, which puts upgrading their services on the back burner.

Never had Verizon, just knew that on Ft. Polk in Lousiana, no one with Verizon had cell service on the FOBs.

TMobile will give you unlimited 4g data for $20 a month extra or something like that..

Not sure what Sprint is doing for data now, but i got a data card from them back in 2007 and got unlimited data then and still have it... It's not bad but it sucks in Jersery.

Why is it that everytime I start a thread asking for honest advice, Transam Pete jumps in and leaves some derogatory comment in response to someone elses advice. He doesn't even leave an actual answer regarding the actual threads topic, but instead decides to stalk the comments until he can find a place to put his 2 cents. It doesn't help other users, and it makes him look like a troll that's just sitting in some parking lot bored to death.

Regardless of the carrier, you're going to drop calls. It's really rare that I drop calls. I have no reason to promote T-Mobile, so not sure why you're so skeptical. I don't think you read my whole post. The majority of dropped calls should be blamed on the phone more so than the network. Smart phones now a days are much like computers. They need to be updated, cleaned, and taken care of. The radio in the phone could be the cause of dropped calls, but people are automatically going to blame the network.

Concerning the coverage area. Phones have a setting in them where you can activate call/data roaming. When roaming, if you're not in T-Mobiles network, you'll automatically connect to AT&T's. Between T-Mobiles and At&t's coverage map, you're pretty much ALWAYS going to have signal. Like I said before, Big Island is the only area where I get absolutely no coverage. From what Georgia Pacific employees in Big Island say, Sprint doesn't work there either.

About Blackberry... RIM, the company that owns, manufactures, and develops Blackberry has been struggling for years. If the Blackberry 10 platform doesn't perform well in the market, they will be out of business by the end of 2014. My point, I wouldn't use a Blackberry if given to me for free.

I only use Android phones for numerous reasons. I control 100% of the phone with Android. I-Phones and Blackberrys are locked up tighter than for knox. I take all carrier restrictions off the phone, gain root access, and take out all of the trash that carriers like to install on their phones. For example, T-Mobile TV. It makes the operating system lighter size wise, and in return makes for a much faster phone. T-Mobile also doesn't lock up their bootloaders unlike a lot of other carriers.

I thought Verizon was the worst. I was with them for 3 years, and ended up paying a termination fee to get away from them. 3rd worse is Sprint. At&T tries to rip people off with their data plans. T-Mobile is the best due to their data speeds, phones, and best data plans you can find.

Here is something interesting you can do if you end up getting a top of the line phone like the Galaxt Note 2, and the unlimited data plan. The Note 2 has a quad core processor which is more powerful than 2 year old laptops. It has plenty of ram where you can use it as a desktop.

You can start a line with T-Mobile, and if you're not happy in the first 30 days you can get out of the phone and contract. Trying it out is the best way to tell.

My iPhone is jailbroken and I mounted a windows 95 and windows xp emulator on it. I have an HTC lockscreen and I also run an android simulated OS with several widgets.

I've repaired, rooted, and jailbroke phones for years in Honolulu Hawaii. (2005 - 2012) I have also switched back and forth more than once between android and iPhone. I've had, at one time or another, an iPhone 2, iPhone 3g, iPhone 3gs, iPhone 4s, HTC Thunderbolt, HTC EVO, Motorola Droid 3, Samsung Galaxy II. I love the open-source of the Android OS. I also love the UI. But when it comes to having a phone that works when I want it too, Apple is by far the superior product. Better parts, better engineering, better design hardware design. I can go on an on and about the nightmares I went through with some of those cheaply made Androids. Constantly freezing up when trying to open apps, hardware glitches when performing tasks such as typing or browsing, rebooting for no reason. God, I can go on and on. I finally settled for going back to iPhone, but customizing the UI to simulate Android. Best of both worlds for me, so far anyway. My reception is great, but I've also got a radio patch installed that optimizes my radio, and I also have the latest software updates. I'm determined to put this sucker on T-Mobile and give it a try.

The unlimited data plan is definitely what Ill need for Netflix and Youtube. I've heard people on here say they get away with watching unlimited Netflix on Verizon's 10gb plan, but as a technician I know that's absolutely impossible since your average movie on Netflix is around 1gb, depending on length and quality. That's ten movies a month, and it would literally be cheaper renting 10 Redbox movies a month as opposed to paying over a hundred dollars for a 10gb plan. Buying a 10gb phone plan for simply streaming movies and music is economically retarded considering the alternatives

I'm going to go to the T-Mobile website and checkout their plans. I hope theyll let me transfer my old number if I sign up for a contract. Had this number with 2 different companies for about 10 years, I would hate to let it go
