It's not too bad although I would like to get it a bit lower. I don't really look at mileage though, I mostly look at fuel usage as a percentage of revenue.

Will it make a big difference if its 1850 as opposed to 2050? Also from your 4:10 to my 3:91?
Or is it because the Prostar is aerodynamic? Or... is your truck on Def? Will this make the differnece?
Going from Nate's 60 to your 47 is a big difference.

All depends on what kind of person is running the foot feed!! 3:91 will get good fuel milage cause it isn't reved high when cruising highway speed say 105 kms @ 1450-1500 rpm, where a 4:10 would probably be around 1500-1550 @ 105kms. 4:10 will pull better on the hills than 3:91's, but not to much difference.

Forgot to answer, I haul pretty much all tridem highboys with 56-58,000lbs of pipe on board. I mostly run around 112 on the highway and it sits about 1650rpm.

That rpm might be the reason your at 60/100 Nate, my tri drive gets 48-53/100 when I keep the top gear in 1400-1450 range. I think for o/o getting 4:10 gearing is back breaking economy. Someone on the forum was running 3.6 or 3.4 down stateside and I wonder how that would work in a truck if the transmission had enough low gears.

My western star with a 550 Cat was running nicely at 1250 - BUT it was 3:58. I was getting about 4.7 in the winter, closer to 5 in the summer.
Now with the 2013 Pete, seems i'm getting worse with a 500, 3:91 at 1450 rpm. Technicians tell me it takes 180,000km to break in.
I would definitely be happy to see the higher numbers - but with these higher rpms, im not going to be holding my breath.
