Whats this I hear that all DOT driving manuals , signs, etc. will soon be in all languages for the language impaired? Also heard that all DOT officers, police, emergency responders will be required to be bilingual or have interpreters with those who are not. This would better facilitate all those undocumented and foreign drivers to better travel our great nation.

What a wondrful idea, dont you think?

This type of subject always gets cluttered and blured in racial conversation. How they get CDLs in the first place. Well they were allowed to so dont blame them blame the system that allows it.

Better yet, it says you must speak & read the English language but the CDL manuals are in Spanish.

Exactly my point then why is it allowed? An english proficiency test from the get go would solve this issue. These govt regs regulatin aint regulatin what needs to be regulated. These guys know( DoT) how these licenses are issued so why then write a regulation that bans such cdl holder? Its just mind boggling.

There should be no manual that is printed in any other language except English! The mere fact that they print the manual in another language defeats the purpose of the rules to know & understand English in a proficient manner for many reasons with safety being of the most importance. That is some messed up excrement!!! :biggrin_25513:

Facts are facts. We have many different nationalities driving trucks. No big deal. They just need to be able to communicate in English. That's not a lot to ask.

Ha, I guess you got me there. My response was aimed more at the OP and those who said all they ask you to read are some street signs. "What are you hauling" and "where are you traveling to" are of course more than that and were good examples of how it's not like one has to know the works of Shakespeare, just basic English. I do find it "ironic" that there exist US CDL manuals or tests in Spanish, but moreso how this driver was able to pass the pretrip skills test, air brakes etc. where you have to explain what you're looking for on each component of the vehicle and how to perform the leakdown test on the brakes.

All you have to do to pass the pretrip portion of the skills test is to know the name of the part you are pointing at, and know that it cannot be cracked/broken/missing/leaking. If actual knowledge of what each component did or how it operated was required in order to pass, +90% of drivers currently on the road wouldn't have passed it.

Just so you all know, the post of mine that was deleted had absolutely NOTHING to do with a racial comment.... no idea where someone got that idea from.
