Sheriff, have you seen the pay scale? You get couple raises your first year, also the pay scale is a sliding scale based on length of haul and where you are in the country.

Here's a disappointment. I recently hit my 1 year mark with SWIFT. At 1 year, they give you one week of paid vacation, $367 gross. That's less than what I make driving 2 shifts!!!! How is that even remotely equal to 1 week paid vacation!? I got $290 of it after tax.
secorp Thanks this. -
Interesting, Sliding pay scale. Loads under 300 miles pay more and 5 raises in your first year with Swift. Under 100 miles .41 for four months driving experience, .46 after six months.

MR H,
I would ask. do they use an average over a year, or a sliding scale based on experience? -
i only got $367 for my 1 week paid vacation. $290 after tax. Hardly a weeks worth of vacation pay. -

400 is ten dollars an hour based on a standard 40 hour week.
-
Yes sir, but a "normal" week for me is 60ish hours and I'm at 32 CPM. Average 50 mph x 60hrs = 3000 miles x .32 = $960 for an average week, not $400!!

It would seem that I'm almost back in the saddle...Almost. I got the load to California on time. The qualcomm went down and I couldn't send in an empty macro so I called. My DL was busy because everyone's qualcomm was down and there was panic in the streets. I already knew where I wanted to go, I had a good reason, and I knew how to get there. I told the DL who I was on the phone with that I needed DEF, I wanted to go to the Lathrop terminal to get it, and I was about an hour away. She asked me if I had permission to go. Now I'm curious, I've been told on this forum and in person that the DL's work for me. It would seem either they are confused or I am. I finally got permission to go and off I went.
On my way to Lathrop I got a preplan on my cell. Pickup today and delivery in Denver on the 3rd. There wasn't any place to pull over so kept going. Not long after my cell started ringing, it was my DL. Now Swift has a policy about using the phone and driving, why call me when they know I'm driving...it's a trick...I'm certain of it. Next my qualcomm goes nuts with msgs..that I can't read because I'm driving. I get to Lathrop and call in. They want to know if I can do the load. I ask a few questions and then tell them I don't have enough hours coming back to do it. Before I can get my DEF I'm asked if I can go get the load and T call it in SLC. Finally I go in to the terminal to talk because Lathrop is where the load is being dispatched from. As soon as I tell them I have less then two hours of driving time left for today the pull the load off because I can't make the 30 miles in that time in traffic. I ask if they have anything local I can do tomorrow and I'm giving an empty trailer move for 250 miles. I'll take it since that is all there is.
That's it for now.Bigdubber Thanks this.
