Why would you buy a kenworth over a freightliner?

and i want to know this....so many of you dump on freightliners. saying crap design and what not....but they have been making wide body trucks longer than most if not all others....and now ALL truck makers are taking after their body designs...but the great kenworth, when they made their first wide body...the so great and famous T2000, had to take the truck off the line because the glued the panels to the side of the truck and they fell apart going down the highway....JUST SAYING

Had a FLD 120 "92" Bought with 350K Paid 60K for it in 95. Ran it up to 1.3 million. Had 1 valve adjust, never had head off.Used Lucas. 12-14K a year maintenance. Had N14 350. Didn't care for the Meritor 9 speed. Replaced on warranty. Battery placement made it vulnerable to blowouts. Freightliner moved them to center in 98. A/C compressor failed at 800K as well as water control valve. Never replaced any suspension components. Replaced one clutch and flywheel assembly. Freightliner shops always figured out a way to ding you so that the labor cost as much as parts. Got 55K from steers, rotated to drives, then sent in to make my own caps. When directional tires came out that was nice. If you could find a really good independent shop for home base repairs you could save a lot of money. Flip side of that is newer trucks have many computers that an independent shop won't be able to service. Sold truck for 12.5 in 01.Thought that was pretty good considering mileage on it. Before I leave a note on injectors, Cummins hates any moisture near injectors. A fuel water seperator is a must. Also replace air dryer cartridge every 5ooK. These 07 and newer low sulfur motors are uncharted territory for me. Before you buy, pass by a freightliner shop and make friends with a low level tech. He will show you the rack where all the warranty replacement parts are awaiting shipment to freightliner. than you will know what to expect. Best of Luck to all of you:)

Most companies won't allow a truck over 8-15 years old to lease on.. I would say that the dry van and reefer companies won't allow over 8yrs and that some flatbed companies won't allow over 15 but, there are still some companies, mostly flatbed that will take a truck, regardless of its age. Mercer, CRST Malone and RR (I believe), don't have age requirements. Landstar didn't but now do.

Remember the new emissions law taking effect next year. Unless you want to retrofit that classic. Classics are done for.

Only if you go into CA do you have to worry about emissions. Why let 1 state dictate what truck you buy?

California is a big market. Too big to ignore IMO. If it was possible to drive only in Texas, I would. That's why it's called a job.
