I rely on my Jake brake more then I do my best friend, if its there use it. I Got a Guy a job with us fresh out of central when he told me central told him not to use his Jakes down hill because of his wheels locking up. I pissed my self. Every trip down donner he would tell me he is sliding all over the road even with 80k I just laugh and he lasted about a month or so. If you really believe your safety manager on the Qualcomms u have some serious issues

So you're good with having your rights and freedoms ripped from you all in the name of corporate profit?

I'll pencil you in as one of the sheep....

Didnt know you going down a grade without using your jake made you a better driver than one using his jake. Far as im concerned ill use that #### jake whenever i want especially coming down a grade beats the hell out of using the service brakes. Dont feel like putting brakes on my truck after dropping the 7s in the rockies because the motor didnt have the power to hold 80k back at 2000rpm. And ill be ###### if im putting an overspeed in my motor.

I wouldn't worry about cameras. They're not running or being monitered every minute of the day. Do you think they're going to pay someone to watch you every minute ? That would be expensive. Just like a 7-11 store or even a casino in Vegas. Lots of cameras recording, but really no one monitoring them constantly. They're there for purposes of refering back in case of a problem. So a driver has an accident, the company refers back to the camera at the time of the accident. If the driver was picking his nose just when he had the accident, oh well.......guess all the lawyers and safety guy will see it.

You just completely crushed my dreams of some person at the fmcsa monitoring me for 11 hours a day driving naked because they put a camera in my cab facing me. Sad day gets sadder:biggrin_2559:

i use my jake brake going down hill to. A driver needs to know how to go down hill without one. If a driver can't do that then they need more training. If a driver can't control truck with 10 brakes a jake brake will be even less traction/braking. All the jake brake dose it let you go down the hill faster compaired to if you don't have one, you don't rely on the jake brake to get you down a hill.

Right ... don't want the bosses to see us driving in traffic and texting, eating & drinking with 2 hands, fiddling with the GPS, throwing trash out the window, etc That's a violation of my civil liberties to endanger the public and litter at will.

Exactly, and many will conform. What they don't think about is the fact that the facial footage will most likely be monitored by third party companies (Who, like many others, will more than likely hire recent college grads for min wage, or interns to monitor the video).

So when someone gets under your tandems, rolls you over and the last thing that goes thru your mind is a guardrail or pole, its likely you'll be an Internet celebrity with your very own video entitled "stupid truck driver gets brains smashed out". At least your family will have an ever lasting souvenir of your last 7 seconds, and it will always be viewable. After all, once it's out there, it's out there for good.

It's already happening with car drivers who "opted for the insurance discount". I'm sure it might also find its way into many company safety videos.

Following your idiotic way of thinking....Might as well put cameras in the bathrooms too then eh?

So that way your boss can make sure you're not doing missing the urinal while taking a piss with a company jacket, hat etc...which would represent them in a bad way...

You know... cause if your eyesight's bad enough to miss the pisser...

if he was sliding going down Donners then he was going to fast or applyi.g to much brake power or both. I use the lite steady pressure 10 psi or less on the brakes. Not everybody use that system.
