    I think someone already mentioned them here the Skelly Truck Stops, Mid Continent, the old independent truck stops. Sunshine alley behind the 76 in Bracey ,VA on I-85. Rest area ladies in Winnebagos. T town fox behind Triple T in Tucson. Disconnecting the steering axle brakes, wet road /dry road valve on the dash. Air filter gauges on the dash. Mississippi still allowing police officers to use visual speed in court. Showing fuel receipt in MS. Sign on shower room doors saying "in use by female driver". 23 channel radios, I aint got no panties on was non existent among a bunch of other stupid C.B.ignorance. Thank god. You didn't hear someone driving down I-65 from Chicago asking the best way to get to Louisville. Loading steel coils in the motor city until you were grossing about a 100,000 lbs and sneaking through the bushes at night. The Dave Nemo radio show. 76 at I-10 and Gause road in Slidell ,LA. Forty foot trailers, driving in the left lane through Louisiana, Starvin Marvin fuel centers. Being in heaven when you finally got one the cab over Kenworth aerodynes aaahhh yes.

    My 362 Pete had a hand throttle. It worked great for cruise control... until the cable broke and left me wide open on I-39. Talk about an OH $#!* moment!

    Back in the day of "locker room" type showers ,some truck stops had to make provisions for female drivers that way. Not all ,but a few.

    I meant to say estimated visual speed was enforceable just like radar. Oh and the traffic lights in MO Red on bottom green on top.

    Overnite. I got into a drag race one night between Nashville and Knoxville on our way over to I-81 with one of those old grey looking cab over Macks that Overnite had. I had built a screaming 350 Cummins to go in my 1977 cab over double sleeper Peterbilt,and I'll be darned if he wasn't giving me a fit. Both of us were flat on the floor probably twisting the tachs up to 2300 r.p.m.s uphill and down. We stopped over in White Pine,Tn and went into eat. I asked him what he had done to that old bulldog and he winked and said " I would think you would know better than anybody" and we were off again lol. Reminds me of the time my uncle put a sleeper on his old Road Boss. It had an old 335 Cummins in it and he had made a flame thrower out of that old engine. We just about had one of those Monfort trucks upon I-70 in Kansas just about to cry uncle and admit defeat ,when a nose cone bearing in the front differential and power divider flew into a million pieces. Oh well,it was a heck of a race for a little while. Yes I'm all busted up and about crippled now,but I wouldn't take a million dollars for the memories.

    I was heading east out of Knoxville one night when I caught up to a Double Diamond driver... Now for the back story.... I had met up with a woman in KC, and we hit it off pretty well. We decided she would come home with me to NC for the weekend, then I would take her back next week. This woman was blessed in the upper endowment dept, and didn't mind flashing someone for fun....

    Now, I told the Double Diamond I was going to pass him and slow down beside him so he could check out something on my truck, and to keep an eye out for anything unusual. When we were side by side, I told him to look into my truck and see if anything was wrong. When he looked over, she had her T-shirt up around her neck and flipped the light on over the door. The next thing I saw was his truck weaving off into the emergency lane, and him hollering into his cb mic. He kept carrying on about what he saw as I pulled away from him. I sped back up to my normal spped, and he was soon out of range, him still talking about what he had seen.

    About a half hour later I saw headlights approaching at a high rate of speed in the hammer lane. As the truck started to pass me he slowed to my speed, and called on the radio if I was the same truck the Double Diamond had been telling everyone about back down the road. I told him yes. He said I must have something good to see, for that driver had everyone looking for me, but he happened to have the fastest truck. He asked if he could have a good look to see what the fuss was about. We switched lanes, he got his look, and soon he went on down the road, satisfied the Double Diamond driver was telling the truth.

    Sure had fun driving in the 70's.

    Last time I got flashed was over around Gary, all the other drivers carrying on about her on the cb. When they finally caught me, she had to pick them up for me to see them. :biggrin_2556:

    Talk about a deflating experience. (HEY! Minds out of the gutter!) I think it likely sounded like someone cut a valve stem in the cab.

    Stanger w/out takin up the space to copy all ur text---wasn't all that long ago(to me anyway)when alot of the freight companies had trucks that would run--just had to know how to make it happen---many moons ago--when I was a freight hauler--used to drive a U-Model for Big-R--when i learned just how to back off a maxidyne pump--then bout 5bucks at the local ace hardware for a handful of breakout bolts--and some red nail polish--and--spent a lot of nites pushin--CW--and praters boys down the hammer lane of 75 razzin em on the radio bout is that all yall got--LMAO---the having to #### around at wildweed for couple of hours--cause couldn't dare pull into the orlando yard outta Atlanta in less than 10.5-11 hours w/out gettin written up!
