Some companies, maybe the ones who want to hire lower risk drivers, I don't really know the why, but we've heard of "The Agility Test," or "pre-employment screening" (Roehl) require that drivers take and pass this test. I failed the first one I had. It doesn't really have anything to do with agility. What it's about is a heart-rate response to effort/work. The older you are, the harder it is to pass because of the formula. You can view this online, search "heart rate monitor," or something like that. The formula they use is: 220 - age x 90%. So, I'm 69, 220-69=151. x 90%= 136. The examiner gives you a series of tasks, and then measures your heart rate after each one. If your heart rate goes over that number, you go home. I didn't find the tasks very hard or demanding, step up and down for 30 seconds, lift and carry 50lbs, push/pull 100lbs, squats for 20 seconds, so on. It was the quickness, the 30 seconds between the tasks that we never experience in the real world that runs your heart rate up. I mean, who climbs up and down their steps 50 times in a row? Even if your tandems are being a pain! I think it's about insurance rates, pretty much.

To be honest you are in bad shape. Im much younger, but it takes several minutes of very intense activity to get to 130 for me. You can improve this by walking. First easy then sustain fast for longer periods of time. I used to respond like you do, it took 3 months of daily exercise to improve dramatcally
