On this topic always know your map! Mine still will not "see" one of my short cuts. Once it saw where I was going the miles will drop by 180! She wanted me to drive 3 hours out of the way.

Yeah mine too lol and then she gets annoyed at me and freezes up if I don't go the way she thinks is best lol ive got the RM 510 now. Had the 710 because I like the big screen but it was complete junk right out of the box and unusable after 14 months. The software is great but the construction and hardware are completely substandard for the conditions it operates in. You'd think for something at that price point and supposed to be the class of it's field you'd get more than 6 months out of it before you start having issues with hardware. The recommend power cord fix from rand? Take a pair of pliers and gently crimp the power cable. Really? I could understand having to play with it to make a piece of junk work if it were some no name pos $99 unit but not something so highly touted and at that price level it should just work. Reliably. And for a long time. After a couple of months of crimping and resizing it the thing was nothing but a paperweight. If they ever get the hardware upgraded to what it should be I'd buy another one but for now the 510 is much lighter and doesn't bounce around as much on the mount and the power cord is holding up so far. Had a cobra 7" and it was nice but I'm just used to the rand maps and software so I sold it but it was a decent unit.

Still, about all they're REALLY good for is miles to go, preview of turns on congested
areas and finding parking once the clock starts getting short and whether I can make
    it or not.

My map and the sat map on the phone are alot more accurate and reliable. And they
don't freeze when I don't like what they tell me and take the better and/or shorter route the stupid GPS should have figured anyway the first time lol

Back to the port in Philly out of pitman this morning. Another $50 so the 'escort' can drive up and say 'that building any open door'. And then 'escort' me absolutely nowhere. Bigger racket than the lumpers. Nice work if you can get it I guess.

    sdaniel Thanks this.

Well, stopped at the Pilot, exit 12 off of 90 for fuel today...looks like the aholes were out in full force! Started pumping fuel, only had 2/8 of a tank, when some Indian guy walked up to me and said, "That is a good company?"...my reply was, "Oh yeah, I love it here" when all of a sudden fuel pump just STOPPED. only 15 gallons? ok. So guy starts asking me all these questions, so I politely told him, hey, I need to go inside real quick, pump just stopped. He was all cool saying oh, ok...I need a soda anyways, I'll come back to you. Told him thank you, that'd be great...don't wanna be the ahole holding everybody up. So went inside, it was just me, that guy, some guy GROSSLY overweight, and the guy behind the counter in the store. Just asked the guy, "Hey pump 17 just shut off...what's up?" Before the guy behind the counter said anything, the Indian PUNK yelled out, "Good, I hope it doesn't come on for you!" Guy behind the counter was kinda shocked and said, redo everything, they'd been having problems with it all day and will probably shut it down after me. So I go out, redo everything, start pumping, again, when the fat guy comes walking out..."Hey EEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP-EEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS, what's happenin' ese!?" like a moron the guy looked I just looked back and said, "Nothing much ese...just working and keeping my hair on my head and my waist really small!" he didn't like that! haha Then the Indian guy comes back out, after I got done fuelling..."Oh, my friend, I have some more questions for you." I just looked him square in the eye and said, "Look buddy, I'm NOT your friend. The way you SHOUTED out to me in there...#### YOU!"...he smiled and said, "Oh...you heard that?" I just rolled my eyes as I released breaks and left.

yeah Dinky i had a similar issue at the pilotin sturbridge.......bad enough i was was tight on time to the appointment and rolled in there and they're 6-8 deep at every pump....got in line sent the message in i'm going to be late to the pickup and dm says see if you can get out and roll as i had enough fuel to get there anyway without stopping......nope already pinned in with nowhere to go.......finally get to the pump and it only pumps .07 cents at a time and shuts off......5 times of that and i go in......they're 10 deep at the counter and i'm already late so i just didn't even deal with it i rolled on but what a pain to deal with.......every time i've been in there it's always stacked up at the pumps like that i only use it as i break stop if i have to after that if i've got enough fuel for the trip i roll on and don't follow the fuel solution.....

had a decent week 2030 on only 4 1/2 days out.....and had to deal with a 6hr live load in charlotte too.....wife hated philly and she was in the passenger seat lol said she'll understand from now on why i don't like going there......and 2nd day out she says 'i really don't like this new truck' lol she got it immediately......leaving philly she said 'that thing has NO clue what gear it needs to be in does it? i liked the old truck better it was sure alot smoother when you were doing your own shifting'....not to mention she couldn't believe what i had to pay 50 for at the port. wanted to know what she had to do to get a job like that lol....pretty much get paid for nothing. have you ever read the paper you fill out for that 'escort'? contradicts itself from the first word. sign at the gate says pay for the 'escort'. the paperwork says 'since you don't have a twic, you have to pay for the jockey service to load your trailer'....so which is it? escort or loading? does that mean if i DID have a twic i'd have to load my own trailer? i doubt it. it's just a ####### money grab cause they can. and they do. i had her on my schedule this week not hers hehehehe last time she was with me i took it easy on her and tried to work out the runs so i was running days but she ran the same hours i did this week.....up at 2 or 3 am a few days to keep rolling and get the early spot in the windows when i could but i have to say she did well and hung right with me. she's thinking about doing a week home and a week out which wouldn't bother me it's nice to have her out on the road with me.....even if she does cheat a little and get up during the trip and hit the bunk for a nap while the husband has to stay up and drive lol.....

set up for grand rapids for monday 5am so it'll be a good check for the period but back up into the snow again. i'm so glad spring is coming. certainly been a much colder slicker winter than last year.

had two of these just this week........gps wanted to send me 145 miles out of the way going to north vernon and then coming back wanted me to go the long way instead of running the AA back.......cut 135 off that one.......technology is great ain't it? lol.......

nothing like being able to look at and read a map and comprehend what it's saying to you. if i decide to do training going into the summer my students will not be allowed to even turn on a gps until maybe their last 2 weeks. they'll have to show me they can read a map and follow directions to my satisfaction before i'll ever allow it. just seems like the prudent thing for a trainer to do with a student.

you should've told her, since she doesn't like the auto...that you traded HER car in for the truck! She better get used to it! haha Well, gotta real LONG haul from Greensboro to Blairs, VA in the am! 48 miles! Think I might hafta break after 24 miles....might run outta time on that run! haha But, when I'm done I'll have right at 2400 for the week! Looks like miles are going back up, which means, we're outta the "slow freight" season! YEAY! So today, I'm smoking Corned Beef...why not? Time goes back up one hour next week....wondering, since we loose an hour, how does that affect our 34? Does that mean we "technically" hafta do 35 then? Just wondering. Hope you guys are good!
