Not useless , some can not get over that 6 mark. And there is better for them, as for me and you. But if you do not try it will never be reached. Control what you can then the rest is what the world throws at you. Have seen this truck pulling light in ideal conditions get mid 11. But every day in mid 7s . Heck wish my pick up would get 11 MPG. Working on getting that 7 up pulling grossed out up in the mountains. Less spend on fuel= more profits .

Agreed they are good numbers, I am assuming that is a glider, BTW, at that MPG what was your average speed? I am going to guess here, but as pictured, I would say the truck weighs 18,000, the trailer is 12,000 and your "load" should be right around 24,000

So with you, fuel etc, that pics grosses about 58,000? just curious how close am I?

Most loads were at 30 to 40k . We run 72 to 75 as much as possible.
    Those were armor plated humvees.
yes If we stay under 70k gross it will always hang above 7.
yes it's a glider, which I think if we did slow down to 65 and had purchased 3.55 gears , or even went low pro tires I'm sure we could hit 8 all day.
I really think the only way to really hit a realist 8 mpg is with a glider.

jack hammer thank you for that information been retired about a year now and never heard of that before. at first thought it was just putting it in neutral and letting her go.

Gliders are a great way to go! EGR hit every engine make hard! Then DPF hit them hard again. Most are trying to get back to where we used to be mileage wise! You and others like you made a choice, in going with a glider. And even with your set up (getting very good numbers) there will always be room for improvement . Our company is doing 40 gliders . But that's only 20% of our yearly order . Fritz does wonderful job but 200 units would take to long. And didn't want to use 5 or 6 companies to fill the order. Our first one is on the ground now.

IF we could have gone gliders, we would have, but I do have some long standing customers in Cali, that made that impossible.

    No,sir.
With the newer engines you will see bigger differences between a lightfooted driver and one that has lead in his feet.
    (compared to pre EGR engines.)

It is true that some things need to be tweaked to get stellar fuel mileage. And slowing some is a viable option for most. It is in how the numbers play out whether something is worth it. It is a matter of fact that getting 1 mpg better fuel mileage nets someone close to $10,000 in an average year. That is gravy for just 1 mpg more. To some that is not worth it, but I find it hard to understand why. How much extra running would the lower mpg truck have to do, to NET another $10,000? I would much rather not burn up my fuel and add wear and tear to my truck, if I could, just with a few mods and moderate speeds, net another $10,000. I guess I am also amazed at how many folks actually get worked up and poo poo the idea of doing things that would net them more take home money. Oh well, we do live in a strange world.

Eco cruise sounds like Georgia overdrive.......... Kicking it into neutral is coasting and that is illegal ...... LOL

Try hauling 70,000 net every load........ The euro guys claim good fuel #s hauling 97k gross. But I don't know...........

I get 5.8 ish in the summer, 5.2 ish in the winter...... Lots of pto time too. 2 1/2 hours today alone...... I hate my fuel bill ....

I dream of 8 mpg but short haul with heavy weights I don't think I'll ever see it!
