And that's how you get rid of them in our industry. Highlight any and all accidents they are involved with (letters to the editor, AM talk shows, etc) and compare the 2 weeks of driving school they get to the newly licenced 4 wheelers who have to have their learners for a few years and then their "N" and all of the restrictions on night driving, number of passengers, age of passengers etc.

When the public begins to understand the special deal that the TFW's are getting, the pressure will begin to mount.

The way this country is and the mentality of MOST people are that when you point out what is happening, they call you a racist.
People use the race card to freely these days and don't want to see the big picture.

The Chinese have been over here for awhile now. They were the ones who were building the tanks up in horizon when it collapsed, killing them. Was it worth it.

    Yup, (building the transcontinental railway)

In 1879 work began on one of the hardest and most costly parts to build'the Fraser Canyon section. To build 15 tunnels through the mountains, they needed 7,000 workers, over 6,000 of which were Chinese. Chinese workers were paid $1 a day and had to pay for their own equipment, while white labourers were paid $1.50'$1.75 a day and were
given equipment. Chinese workers were often given the most dangerous jobs, such as blasting, causing death for many. It is estimated that four Chinese workers died for each mile through the Fraser Canyon. Men also died from poor eating, sickness, poor clothing and poor working conditions.

Ok ,i,thought long and hard about coming on here , so what i moved over wae my family to rural MB over 5yrs ago from Scotland.
My reason was as i had been driving trucks from 1981 and the company i spent the last 21yrs with went bust and living in a rural area there was no chance of working again before i retired so i took a chance at a better life.
We used my severance money to come over and traveled MB<SK<AB. looking for a job doing work i could do,and enjoy. I found a LTL company in MB that took a chance and brought me and 2 other drivers over on a 2yr TWP.
    I took a 6wk course at a reputable training company,,so i would be road ready .
and i did 30mnths at said company and since then haul trains for a local company .out where i live in the boonies.
I dont know where people think its cheap to come to Canada ...its not .well not for folk from britain.it costs a fair bit o money ,,for the TWP,then Permament REsidency...now we are saving up to do our English exams for our Citizenship..( even though we are born an bred English speakers we have to do exams).
Yes i know there is not a driver shortage just a shortage o resonable paid jobs!
And if you want to check .,its now easier to come to Canada from Asia, & the far East than it is from an English talking country it now seem BC etc want drivers from the East(there is a list of counties ) and none of them are western europe.
I have had the odd comment from the warriers (on the CB) about taking Canadian jobs when i was speaking tae other company drivers but strangely enough none o them wanted to say it to my face!
Do i care what other people say about new Canadians ,? ..not really ,do i agree with people having to speak, read, write English?French .hell yeah.
and believe me with the economy in ireland, scotland england ,wales going down the crapper there will be more families coming over.
sorry for rambling on but i thought i would put my 2cents in.
    james.

The use of Chinese workers to build the railroad is widely condemned as an example of systemic (or institutional) racism.

Rather than learn from the past, the Federal and Provincial governments continue to import "less than's" (that's their view, not mine), at the request of lying corporate executives seeking to improve their bottom line and their personal bonus. These corporations then reinforce the same racist view of "less than" every 2 weeks when they process their payroll. ie- Man from here worth x, man from there worth x-15%.

Part of the policy design is to pit the two labour groups against each other, instead of the policymakers and the corporate liars where the anger should rightly rest.

Even though these TFW's are threatening to take my job or lower my pay I can't condemn them for wanting a better life.

The bottom line? There is no driver shortage, there is no underground miner shortage, there is no shortage of unskilled labour in Canada period.

The politicians, corporations, and free trucker magazines that promote this ######## are lying cacksackers.

    Rant over.

Canada is a big place. What does a company in Alberta (for instance) do if they can't find workers even though there may be many qualified but unemployed in Ontario (for example) but they don't want to move?. In other words, if there is 1000 unemployed in (pick an eastern province) that don't want to relocate, and 500 jobs in (pick a western province) going unfilled for lack of qualified applicants, that would indicate no shortage of workers IN CANADA but to the companies that can't fill positions, there IS a shortage.

My quick answer: Incentivize the job.
My question: This is happening now in the trucking industry? Where? What companies?

You do raise a good point. I'd like to elaborate on my response when I have more time.
