That's great! Keep up the good work and keep WATCHING and LEARNING from others. You can learn a lot from others mistakes and others good performances, both. Keep pushing yourself to improve and help others where/when you can. Learning how to teach and convey a task is a good way to learn and expand your knowledge and abilities.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but still in school and "doing great" has a slight hint of ####iness. As does driving 3 times and "knowing what to do". I'm just saying, don't get too overconfident just yet. Because the day will come you will screw up (hopefully minor) and you'll be embarrased. It does sound like you're a natural for this biz. When you can look BACK over a year then two and have no accidents/tickets, then you can say you're doing great. Good luck.

Once you get out of school, and get with a trainer, then you will begin to learn trucking. Schools basically give you just what you need to get your CDL. The real training comes in when you are with your trainer. Best of Luck.

So true. I was going to say something like that but didn't want to worry the new driver. But since you brought it up, I'll expand a little and say the fact is he'll learn more (or flunk out) in his first 2 days of city driving in the real world than he'll learn in 8 weeks non-stop at a driving school.

Furthermore, when he is released to go solo, then he'll find out just how little he/she really knows and how many of the little "gotcha's" were never covered in school or even with the carrier trainer. Hopefully the school does a good job covering many of the more common difficult maneuvers in city driving and at least many the different type of docking scenarios.

I'd like to see an optional "Advanced Boot Camp" for CDL School grads. Make it tough, make it real, no incentive to pass recruits, no incentive to fail recruits, but an honest assessment and either they fail or they pass. If they pass, they would be given higher priority at qualifying carriers and have a significant edge going in.
