Like everyone else, you're pretty much screwed with the trucking carreer. How much did you value your CDL?I would guess not much since this happened recently.

Probably not the first time you've drank then drove, only this time they caught you.

If ppl wanna drink why don't they just take a cab to the bar rather then playing russian rullette on the road.Plus it only takes one beer/drink or so to be legally over the limit far as the law is concerned.

Funny how people hurry to get on their moral high horses when a driver screws up. My codriver has a DUI from 12 years ago, and we haul DOD loads. So not all hope is lost. You shoulda fought it. You denied the breath test.. So why not fight it out? $5000+ lawyer is still better then flipping burgers for the next 5-10 years.

Hang in there and try to find something to do with trucking as soon as you get your CDL back. Like a moving company or something. Even if you're not driving.. It'll help with your next carrier, they won't know how much or little you drove.

12 yrs ago is alot longer then recently.By the time all said and done even by some remote chance a lawyer will get this reduced,it'll still be yrs before it comes to service. You sure seem forgiving, why don't you see if your company is just as forgiving if and/or when he gets his CDL back and get him a job.

Good idea! Might get on with Corrigan as a helper. At least would still be involved with trucking to a degree.

It's an automatic one year suspension and you must complete a substance abuse program before a company will even consider you. I know some companies that are as low as 3 years but most are 5-10 years. Insurance companies dictate the time. The catcher is with 3 years off the road you are a newby again. It's going to be an upward battle but you are looking at a minimum of 3 years. Drinking is fun when you are young but it does nothing but cause problems if anything. If you want to commit to trucking you need to quit because you already demonstrated you don't make sound decisions under the influence. It's not the end of the world. There is a million ways to make money.

Were you actually convicted of DUI?

A refusal to take the test is an automatic 1 year disqualification... while hard, that is easier to overcome.than.an actual DUI

Try local construction companies, dump truck etc... Furniture delivery for a local store etc. Someone whose mani business is not trucking.

Good luck and I hope you learn something from this experience.

It may seem harsh to you but a drunk driver in a CMV is death waiting to happen and there are no second chances then. It doesn't matter that this happened in a POV... you are the constant in the equation, the vehicle is not.
