TQL - "What kind of a rate would you need to make that work?"

    From my personal experience- If i recieving load from tql and their representative telling me weight will be 25k, i know for this 99% that it will be 42k, but this is the smallest problem with them)):biggrin_25514:

    Seems to me that the ones who refuse to lie, cheat and steal from carriers are the ones who leave - meaning that everyone else left working for TQL is probably comfortable lying, cheating and stealing. I'm sure there are exceptions to every rule, though.

    Bottom line that I've come up with by reading those reviews, is that there is so much pressure and stress not from just the work itself, but put upon these college grads by the management, pressuring them to make their sales, and do better and better - and seems to me one would have to starting becoming unethical to meet those demands.

    Just like some carriers - expect their driver to driver overtime illegally, but will never say as much - and when the driver crashes, the company knows nothing about it.

    There are plenty of reviews on the site from current employee's. They all state the job is not for the "weak", it's for those willing to do "whatever it takes", etc... I hear nothing from a single one of them about respect for the industry, or seeking this job because they always liked trucks or have a curiosity about the movement of freight. All your people are simply after that 100k + commission potential. So even the successful ones wind up spending 70 hours a week doing something they really don't have any passion for, their only passion is $$$ and viewing themselves as some sort of big wheel ?? I think it's sad frankly.

    Your people don't have a clue or a desire to have a clue about the trucking industry. All you do is buy low and sell high, essentially turning our services and shippers loads into nothing but a playing chip in a little game.

    So you have tens of thousands of strong positive relationships with carriers, exactly how would you advise a carrier to form a relationship like that when there is less than a 1 in 10 chance the person we talk to will be working there in a year ?

    These people are not in the trucking industry. They are in the business of hounding shippers for their freight at as high a price as they can, even if it means lying to do so, then begrudginly talking with truck drivers trying to get them to haul it as cheap as possible, doing whatever it takes to do so.

    The only motivation is money. These people are in sales, not trucking. If you hung any title with any form of trucking in the name, you would have no applicants, and even more quitting than are quitting now. It's clear from the 100's of reviews I read on several sites your employees detest and look down on trucking and truckers, and look at them as suckers.

    I did find it interesting that most of the positive post all used the same five keywords in various manners. If one was a cynic, they would think these post were planted and based around a script. But we know that couldn't be.

    No, you won't. You will reply with a corporate party line about why you do a sketchy practice like fake load posts, wrong city posts, no TONU on a confirmed load without dispatch, and the like.

    But don't worry, I still do business with you. It's like dating a crazy chick. You know it's usually pretty good, except sometimes she bites.

    While some of this may just be sour grapes, you don't get the reputation your company has by accident, theres no way everything I read and hear about TQL is made up.
    I have a freind in the Cincinnati area who has done buisness with TQL for years and does well with them , but even he has told me you need to be careful with them.
    I have been tempted to do buisness with your company because you have alot of freight in the area, but I can't get past the reputation thing, rather be safe than sorry.

    Well, I just was dealing with TQL over unpaid accessorials, and finally got them to pay. Took a while, and the agent I dealt with kept stating that it wasn't authorized. But, finally got someone to handle it and the ACH was done just recently.

    I'm not thrilled with TQL. But, as Red said, sometimes their rates are good. But, I always high ball my number with them. When I first started, I'd give them a 'good rate', now I go for the home run every time and always hear "That's more than I have in it", then I get his 'high price' and decide if that's for me. If it's not, I let them know what my minimum is, and let them know where to reach me if they change their mind.

    Who is really getting the last laugh here, you or them? You said you hate them and only use them as a last resort. However you must be in that "last resort" mode somewhat often that you have to call them and it bothers you this much? Get a sales guy and go find your own freight. By the way, there is no such thing as "last resort" or "no choice"....run empty!!!

    I got no less than 8 calls from TQL today. I didn't book one load with them either.

    One guy actually hung up on my telling me my rate was ridiculous and there was no way it would be accepted.

    News flash for ya buddy....

    How ridiculous do you think it sounds to me when you offer me a reefer rate at under $1.50 per mile LOADED.......
