    Welcome to the family!

What you've heard is true, everyone here is very polite and respectful. Everyone will treat you as a real professional driver (until you give them reason not to).

Congrats on being accepted. You've just made the best career choice of your life :)

I've been told by numerous flatbed drivers that running at night is rare for them because their deliveries are almost always during the day.

There will probably be a few times when you'll have to. But when it comes to Maverick, they don't really care when you run, as long as the pickup and delivery are on time.

By the way, we run E-Logs, so you won't have to fool with paper anymore.

Maverick runs the same MCP200. There are some days I rename it to the POS 3000 though :)

You shouldn't run into time issues here. Maverick uses something called ETAP - Estimated Time of Arrival Prediction. It's an advanced computer program that predicts when you will arrive at a destination, and it assumes that you're traveling at 48mph the whole way.

By using that system, you'll almost always have time to get where you need to go with time to spare. Aside from a couple of personal mistakes by oversleeping, the only late loads I have ever had were the shippers fault, like taking an entire day to load me. One time the shipper didn't load me until 3 hours after the load was due at delivery lol... Can't do anything about that though.

I've never seen anyone punished for out of route mileage. They would like you to keep it at 10% or less, but if you're getting loads delivered on time and getting no complaints, I doubt you'll have any issues. If it gets really high, your fleet manager may call you and talk to you about lowering it.

I will say that I use a Rand McNally GPS for routing (always double checking with the atlas) but I'm pretty sure they use Rand McNally to calculate miles, because its always pretty close. My out of route mileage hovers around 4%.

They don't normally take money out of your check. If you cause damage to equipment, I know that they reserve the right to recover those costs if they choose, although that is very rare. They will also take money out for tickets that are 100% your fault if they pay the fine up front.

OOR (Out of Route) is a number that they post on your report every Sunday, and they monitor it to a small extent.... however, the much more important numbers that they monitor are your mpg, and late p/u's and del's. If you do at least average on mpg and are not constantly late everywhere, your OOR is something that you should not have an issue with. Just don't drive like 700 miles for a 400 mile run or something stupid like that! To quote the Great and Powerful Sewerman: "MAVERICK HAS A LOW TOLERANCE FOR STUPID."
