I honestly can't give any other examples superpet39 , I only had 2 trucking jobs in my career. The 1st one was with a company that ran the west coast...Thomas Produce ( Greensboro , NC ) worked there for just a couple of years, after the Army, and they aren't even around anymore....then GSF til Nov of 2011. I'm one of the lucky ones , I landed my dream job , and was able to keep it til I could retire. But, if this helps, IMO decent places aren't always the one that pay the best...granted money helps, but benefits working conditions, and schedules that are offered play a big roll too. FedEx , UPS , GSF, all are examples of the ones I would say are good, but I'm just one guy, I'm sure that there are many guys/girls that would give some OTR companies as examples. I can't speak about those cause I never really ran OTR. Some folks like tankers, good money there too, but again , never done any of that sort of driving, other than learning how to drive on a tank while working at an uncles dairy farm back in the '60's. Your ideas of a decent place may differ from mine, my comment on putting money 1st wasn't a slur on your ideas, I was only pointing out the way you used money to define a good /decent job...No offense meant.

Wrong. He didn't ask for sympathy and you claiming he did is a complete falsehood and -your- incorrect interpretation based on YOUR incorrect assumptions, biases and prejudices. NO ONE said otherwise that he didn't make a bad decision or choice (however you want to word the semantics), no one said it was OK, no one said he was a victim, no one said he should be able to use the roads again anytime soon and no one darn sure said he doesn't deserve what he gets. These are all terms and false negatives entered into the equation by yourself and others who jumped down his throat to justify your own behavior. He asked a question about his career, a legitimate one, end of story.

I think you are done with the driving career for quite some time. Even if you were to buy your own truck no insurance company would insure you.

Even though you are on home time because you hold a CDL and are a professional driver you have the responsibility of acting like a professional at all times! Just because you are at home doesn't mean you can throw all rules out the window! Actually in my opinion the penalty should be stiffer! You know better than that! How many nights/days have you been out there and have seen deadly accidents due to impaired driving? Then you go home and do the same thing!

Not trying to be a dick, but you should know better than that!

    No, here's what's Harsh:

The fact that you, a professional driver, chose to drink alcohol and then get behind the wheel of a vehicle and drive it on the public roadways says that you lack the good judgement necessary to operate safely as a CDL driver. For our sakes, find another career.

No No...... No offense taken ...truth be told I was being a little assholeish because we differ in opinion about the OP's future outlook..... FYI I know a UPS driver that smokes weed everyday (and ON THE JOB on his paydays) he's never failed a test, and never called called in sick for almost 10 years. (No DUI tho)

know another person that hauls doubles at night for FedEx that has a DUI, he's been there for about 4 years.

And in hindsight my post did insulate that pay is all I care about.

me personally: I'm done making bad choices in life and can only hope/pray I'm able to accumulate 30 plus years of something I actually like doing (driving). congrats on that, I hope retirement is treating you well sir.

This simple question deserves serious answers no matter how harsh they may be.Someone who drinks then knowingly drives while under the influence really does'nt deserve any compassion don't ya think?Lets see he drank, drove, refused to take the breath test and we're judging him?He told on himself with his first post. All this could have been prevented and he would have his cdl right now if he only took a cab or had a desinated driver.Or even leave his car and the bar and then took a cab home.

Yea, to hell with those who express opinions different than our own that we can't handle and/or accept ... let's just call 'em names in a roundabout way and pretend we're self-righteous.

This is not the 1st time you have accused me of that...why don't you you just give it a break pal...I don't drink..never have ....Besides we all are free to give our opinions...just like you are free to give yours.....I never jumped down the mans throat any one can see that. Calm down...If you have any thing that can help him other than telling him the truth, tell him.... no need to throw your silly accusations at me. If you're concerned about helping him....get to it. I'm not, as far I'm concerned he does not deserve help.
