I get my home-time every time I request it, usually on the day I put in for. Sometimes situations arise that force me to get home a day late, but I make up for it by taking an additional day off that I lost by coming home late.
I stay out normally 4 weeks at a time. Sometimes longer, sometimes less. It all depends on what's happening at home or how I'll be impacted by the holidays.
Coming home will always affect the paycheck because the truck's not moving. I found that staying out around 4-5 weeks at a time works out the best for me.

I am with US Xpress now. Did you see the blast today about the $5000.00 relocation bonus offer to move to Gas City IN for local Walmart account? My buddy moved down from Michigan for it and likes it alot. he couldn't local anywhere there. He says they are so busy they need good drivers bad and quick.
I've never done lane pay though? They say $850 average but pays out different lanes and 20 a stop?
If we move there within 30/40 miles we get 2/3 days home per week? or farther but under 60, we can drive in to the Wal-Mart yard and get a 34 hour reset every week, or stay out 11 and home 2, running like 250 mile circle there in Gas City?
I called my recruiter Kim Carlton and then Jennifer Beavers and her told me about it. Plus we get a $1000 referral bonus for sending experienced drivers their way so while I am thinking on it I sent a friend to apply and we may get an apartment there.Wedge Thanks this. -
I think Walmart dedicated is a great fleet. I get loaned out to the Walmart DC in Shelby, NC every now and then. I'd consider it if I could get assigned to a DC near my home in GA.
Good luck. Let me know how it works out. -
Hello Everyone.
I'm in Towanda, KS heading down to our terminal in Irving, TX. This is a nice run. Picked up at P&G in West Branch, IA, and delivers in Waxahatchie, TX on Tuesday morning. Paid miles:886.
I'll make Irving by early afternoon on Sunday, so I've asked for a drop number so I can keep moving. I'm not ready to sit around for almost 40 hours waiting to deliver.
Here's something spooky.
I stopped at the Tamarak Travel Plaza in WV for a break one night and I saw my old truck "Christine". I thought for sure she was going to be rotated out with the high mileage. Guess not.
Anyway, as I was walking past her, the head lights flicked on, then off.
I walked up to the truck.........no one inside.
Now that's creepy.
Guess it was just saying "Hi".
Thanks for reading.

Wedge Thanks this. -
Yeah. Hope the thing doesn't burst into flames.
A quick update:
Made my drop in Irving 2 days early and got a load that picks up at a Walmart DC in Desoto, TX and drops at a Walmart DC in Cullman, AL. Paid miles: 676.
There are no mtys here at the terminal, so I have to PU an mty at a Sears in downtown Dallas before I roll in to the Walmart. Pick up time is 0600 so it's off to bed. -
TOOO weird!!!!!Wedge Thanks this. -
I have a question...I've been here (USX) for a month already and it seems like I've been through three FM's. Is that common here? No complains, they have all been nice persons so far. 1st one was changed on day 2 and now after a few weeks I'm dealing with someone different. I'm just wondering what the deal is with that.

is it the norm yes to a point..... happens to a lot of new drivers..... it will stop SOON
nievesco Thanks this.
