best route to new jersey from cali

    hi i never been to ny before need some advise on best route to get there avoiding hills and tolls

    thinking of starting out with 10 instead of 40 to avoid all the rolling hills

    Hard to say exactly since you only give states, but say LA to Newark is 200 extra miles running 10.

    Hate breakin it to ya boss, but if you are going to Jersey, you WILL be going through some hills. Also, if you stay on the big roads, theres going to be a toll or three. If this is your first time across I would highly recommend staying on the big roads, and planning for the most direct route, money saved on fuel could offset some of the tolls.
