Yeah, but if you are at a bottom-feeder like Knight, you really do not have a job--you have more of tour of charity giving without the deductions. I am so glad you have a job at a bottom-feeder for it is better you than me and because it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

So you still have no job truck driving? Wow all this ##### moan groan complain from you about knight makes me wonder if night did not accept you that is why you were so ######## about knight. This is why the company did not accept you it is because you refused to work. You did not want to put the time in to see how company works. You say we don't make any money your bum point it anywhere from 750 dollars to 1000 dollars a week. You have got to learn how to use the system in order to gain from the system.

Also, wouldnt it be easier to "bite the bullet" and take one of these jobs you dont "want" then start applying to places that you "would" work for ..... You said you're "going dry"... so why not just swallow your pride for a few months (maybe less if someone will hire you - while you're "employed")

Uh, better re-read this thread where I already stated that I
CHOSE not to go with Knight. I refused to work 'for gratis' and I spelled that out in my opening post. But hey, why let the facts get in the way of your post, aye?

No, it is a test like you say but it is also some $79-105 in fees and fingerprinting and then the two to six week wait. I already went over budget obtaining my CDL and I am not about to spend another shilling upgrading my CDL until after I get paid with a few paychecks first.

Yes, in the short-run, signing on with a bottom-feeder would be easy. It would also for be easy for me to cheer myself in the short run p by going in to the 'hood' and get some 'happy dust' and a 'courtesan' in order to get a better state of mind. However, both of these events would have ramifications in the long-run, especially the latter if the cops nab me.

    ----------------

Let us say that I can last a year and deal with all the bullcrap a bottom-feeder dishes out like Smaggs did, very unlikely I would, but for the sake of this reply assume so. If I then only make $13.5k gross, the Smaggs quoted amount, for a 51 x 70 = 3,570 hour work year, I would gross at a $3.78/per hour rate. Now, probably $2.5k taken out of this for living expenses on the road, and then another $1.5k in taxes, I will have about $9.5k in my pocket---for the whole year---working 70 hour weeks---hunting for trailers---getting gypped pay---never seeing home time.....

The price is just too high. Also, let us now come back to reality, I would be gone after a week of the stunts I have read about Knight on TTR. Of course, Knight would then assassinate my DAC too, correct? They would thus nuke my chances of gaining employment at another company that uses DAC to qualify applicants.

    ------------------

If the bottom-feeders had a 'floor' for the hours worked, I may consider them. I already had 100% commission jobs and working for peanuts as a messenger. I just cannot drive for peanuts anymore. If I am going to work for peanuts, then I will just join a heavy metal band--again
:biggrin_25526:, or work for a greenhouse--I ain't doing it living in truck dealing with shippers and cops and everything about it.

    ------------------

Here is my counter-offer Knight apologists---I will work the first month for $35/day flat rate, a very reasonable training rate for Knight to pay. I get home for two days every 9-10 days or else $50 extra per day 'hostage' bonus. The truck must stop for six hours every twenty-four hours for sleep-rest (to avoid 'team' running).

After the first month, I then get a $110/day floor for every day I am not on reset and which I am ready to work. If a truck breaks down, if a trailer cannot be found, if a shipper takes my whole 14 hour duty clock to load me, weather shuts me down, or if I get a short-run of 200 miles and then nothing else, I get $110 for that day. If I drive 500 miles, then I get the 500 x $0.33/mile instead of the $110/day floor.

    Deal....???!!!!~ :biggrin_255:

Not for nothing Fiddle Sticks, no company will make that deal with you. Smaggs had a very bad experience with knight. You make it what you put into it. I make more than your quoted 13.5K gross. I made more than that my first year OTR with knight at .31cpm starting pay. I have had good experience here and I am happy with what I am doing. If the opportunity opens up for me to make more with another company, then I will move on and I won't worry about my DAC. They only trash it if you don't do what your supposed to when you want to leave. Just hire on with a company and get your experience up. You have to start somewhere, as you said your just about dry.

Fiddle sticks....for one you just continue to exhibit behavior that resembles a lazy person...you seem to not be able to find work or just don't want to...

just like you just stated..appearently old dominion wants to give you a shot but asked you to get your hazmat...you complain about that too saying your not going to spend anymore money until someone puts you to work...

just face it...it really appears that you just dot want to work..and for a rookie, you sure Try to act like you know more about this business then us experienced folks.

The $13.5k is NOT MY quote, it is a RE-Quote of what Smaggs quoted. He seemed to be a hard worker and he for sure endured more that I would have endured.

Uhm, not from what I read an many bottom-feeder threads. According to some posters, they got hit for an 'abandonment' ding on their DAC even when they brought the truck back to the terminal.
