OOIDA had no problem snapping Prime back into line, probably could straighten GW out too......

    Just a thought....

Now if they could only get the FLSA of '33 repealed.......all would be good.

Guys I was just offered an independent contractor position at the local burger joint. I will make 30% of the sales my grill makes! However I have to pay for the meat, buns, oil, ketchup, relish, mustard, onions, tomatoes, and wrapping paper for the burgers. Plus there is a $15 a day escrow fee for grill maintenance and repairs. My daily lease payment is $150 for the grill. Which is due for all days of the week whether I work that day or not. Do you guys think this is a good opportunity for me?:smt017

Actually that's exactly how a lot of those roach coaches you see operate ... the lease model or variation is very common ... food stands, hair/nail stylists, taxis.

Why do you think taxi companies are always hiring?

There is such a simple solution to this from the beginning. READ the contact BEFORE you sign it and if you dont understand it ... wait for it .... get someone that DOES understand it to read it and tell you what it says. OOIDA will do this for you for FREE if you are a member.

If you sign a contract then honor that contract. If you sign it without reading it first you have already proven you are not prepared to become a business owner.

I have more comments on this later but for now I wanted to add our latest settlement. He is signed on with the same division as the O/P. I think this a good opportunity to open a discussion about what might be the possible factors involved in such contrast.

Here is my other half's Greatwide settlement for last week. (3-13-13)
Just to give an overview, he ran from Lansing to Chicago, Chicago to Detroit, Detroit to Indy and Indy back to Detroit. He was home most nights. All loads were 1 pick 1 drop.(mail sorter machine) under 23k except Indy to Det which was 42K because it was beverage. All brokered freight. I find the freight for the truck. building good relationships with with others in the business pays off. Brokered freight does not always mean poor rates.
The total deductions include all of the fuel purchased plus the $150 we pay weekly for the Xtra lease 53' dry van as well as fuel tax deposit, occupational hazard insurance and of course, passenger insurance. :)
This is pay to the truck. Greatwide already got their cut out of the order pay.

    TOTAL ORDERS: 4
    TOTAL MOVES: 4
    TOTAL MILES: 1054.0
    TOTAL ORDER PAY . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .$ 2,367.93 . . . . (this is revenue)
    TOTAL OTHER EARNINGS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $ 626.89 . . . . . .(this is FSC)
    -------------------------------
    TOTAL GROSS EARNINGS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $2,994.82
    TOTAL DEDUCTIONS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .- $849.72. . . . . (this is fuel, trlr, etc. as stated above)

    TOTAL NET PAY . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $2,145.10 (this is what went in bank account)
    ------------------------------------- YTD Summary ----------------------------------
YTD EARNINGS $27,641.53 (<--- because he takes christmas to middle of Jan off for vacation and he's home on weekends, usually runs tues- friday afternoon or mon-thurs afternoon. -- fewer miles, less fuel, etc. )
