best route to new jersey from cali

Run US54 from Tucumcari to US283 up to Dodge City then US 50 to Emporia then I35 up go around KC on 470 to I70.....no tolls, no hills.......good running.......

Bookmarking saves the location. It still requires a connection in order to pull up the page again. When's the last time you priced printer ink? Because that certainly is NOT free. If you do a printout for each trip, it won't take you very long to see that the road atlas is the less expensive option in the end. It's a good resource you pointed out, but it does have its limitations. Remember Murphy's Law - if it can go wrong, then it will, and always at the worst possible time. So a few bucks spent on a road atlas in order to have something to fall back on in those instances would seem a pretty sound decision. Not to mention you can drop, throw, and kick a road atlas and it'll still be operation. One good drop of that laptop could have a very disastrous end. Then where are you if you were reliant solely on your laptop?

 

Now Im really confuse--you went the long way--then up 81--goin to Jersey and you STILL paid 100 in tolls? where?

 

I use a Road Atlas, a cell phone and a notepad but will occaisionally refer to Google maps for routing options or local info......that's it, that's all you need!! GPS and all this other crap is for rookies or intreverts..............

 

You mean when you left? You dont pay any tolls goin into jersey--or did you go into NYC?

 

Ok now i see from your other post you actually went into NYC--everyone that was tryin to help you get up there--probably could have saved you some of that $100 also had you stated where you were actually going
